My original point was that there was excessive swearing in the post I was quoting. Excessive - exceeding what is usual, proper, necessary. The article I originally quoted used aphasia as ONE example of a condition that could cause or be accompanied by "excessive" swearing. So I guess the real argument would be what's "excessive"? If an aphasiac wouldn't normally swear, wouldn't any swearing be "excessive"? Aphasics' automatic speech can include swear words, numbers, lyrics, "um", "er" and other placeholders (from multiple articles I read today, more than I ever thought I would). So they could also excessively be repeating numbers.

You're making a lot of assumptions here to justify your argument. That's quite a few assumptions. In the real world of medicine, it's not practical and is not considered a symptom of any aphasia. A lot of aphasias don't even affect vocabulary or fluency of speech.

I don't disagree with the possibility of excessive swearing resulting from some aphasias, but I would say it's highly, if not exceptionally unusual. Indeed, all of the assumptions you make would have to be true, and that's possible but not really. The original author makes it seem like it's somewhat normal, which is what I took exception with.

Too true, the brain is complicated, generalization is often a bad idea, and still really wierd things can happen.

The original author makes it seem like it's somewhat normal, which is what I took exception with.

I guess that just shows how differently people interpret things. I thought the original author made it sound like it was only one of many things that could be a cause.

And I'm not saying Radiohead's bad or anything. I like a few of their songs that aren't so complex, like their older stuff, and I like their ballads, though I'm a sucker for just about any ballad. I just don't think they're necessarily better than Live, like everyone is saying. People are trying to talk objectively so they are saying stuff like "Radiohead is better but Live is my favorite band," which is unfortunately very hypocritical.

Kid A was The best album album I have listened to this year since Arcade Fire's Neon Bible. I have probably consumed 20 albums this year so it's a big thing.

Kid A is like "The Wall" for our generation. Off the first listen, The Wall is still better, but in the future who knows? How to disappear completely and Idioteque were epic, Idioteque was the closest thing to a progressive song that one could dance to which NEVER happens. Not one bad song on the album, the song I like the least would be... um... Motion picture soundtrack? That song still kicks ass though

Motion Picture Soundtrack is a well-known debate, also... There is the 2000 album version fans and the acoustic 1996 version fans.

This set of comments speaks for itself (by the way, in my opinion Radiohead sounds like puke to my ears and has really never been relevant. Calling Radiohead "the best band in the world today" is a joke (and no, I'm not saying that Live is))

In terms of musical ability, creativity and songwriting, my opinion is that Radiohead is the best band in the world today hands down. No contest with ANY other band. 1. The only good thing about Radiohead is that Creep is one of the few songs on rock band that I can sing.
