Damn. Live could probably make a living off playing only at this venue. I've been there twice, though, and I can see why. I bet it's the same people coming back each time.

Good show, awful venue. Starland was up to its old tricks of overselling the venue. At times you couldn't even move, let alone get a good view of the stage without straining. If there ever is an emergency at Starland, there will be a ton of fatalies. Someone needs to call the fire inspector and figure what the buildings capacity is.

Anyway, Live was good, very energetic all throughout the night. Crowd was into the show, singing a long to almost every song. They replaced Shittown with Operation Spirit, and ended the show with Lightning Crashes. Ed's voice seemed a little strained during LC, and I have a feeling that is why there was no White, Discussion. I enjoyed the show a bit less than the Borgata mainly due to the piss poor management of Starland Ballroom.

I was at the DC show on Thursday and last nite at Starland. The DC show was average....both the crowd and the band in my opinion. Last nite was damn near the exact opposite and close to brilliant (ending with WD would've landed it in the brilliant category). Hard to explain the intangibles, but the band was just in a zone and the crowd was great. And yes, it was oversold, which was a joke and made it tough to maneuver around for beer etc....Starland needs to get their shit together. But I still love seeing shows there - the sound and the site lines are excellent. A few hundred less people just would've been nice. Hanging with a bunch of other Live fans at the Hilton's bar post-show was cool too. Time to sleep / watch hoops all day....

the show was awesome, disappointed not hear white discussion, but loved hearing waitress and voodoo lady..

agree w/others -- seems starland oversold-- it definately seemed more crowded than the two previous starland shows i've been at. i wondered if it had to do w/a saturday night crowd.. the last two starland gigs i was at were during the work week..

the band was totally into it- they were loving the crowd and the crowd was giving the love right back.. was suprised at how early into the set ed engaged the crowd (me think right after the first song?).. it was then i knew it would be an awesome night..

my ears are still ringing and my voice is hoarse from yahoo.gif yahoo.gif yahoo.gif screaming..

Who sets the capacity for a club? Would calling the Sayreville fire inspector on Starland help them address the problem? Last June the Live show was sold out, but was comfortable, this time it was dangerously overcrowded. I think the venue needs to be put on notice. Next time Live comes to Starland, we want a comfortable, safe viewing experience.

Found this number and address:
Sayreville Fire Inspector | (732) 390-7013 Get Directions
49 Dolan St, Sayreville, NJ

Also Starland Ballroom's email address:

info@starlandballroom.com.

According to Pollstar, the capacity at Starland is 2,040. I haven't seen anything from last nights show officially, but I do know that when they played there last summer they sold exactly that amount. That is a lot of people for that venue.

It's obvious that the Starland Ballroom management has other businesses on their mind than their laundromat. They simply don't care, but the venue is still incredible.

i completely agree.. last summer's show was less crowded... no comparison though to Nov 05- it was my first time at Starland and had no reference..

how about a letter to the editor of a local paper?

let us know if you get a response to your email.
