Well yeah they just dropped more songs from the last tour without adding more. I mean why play a 3hr or 2hr show when you can play for 17mins or whatever it would have clocked in at!

But yeah hopefully like Ex said, a lot of times when a band starts a new tour for some reason their first show doesn't reflect what the rest of the tour will have in store and it's esentially a warm up show .. still we'll see.
I saw Ween on thursday and friday nights, both nights they played 30+ songs and only one of them were played at both shows .. now that's awesome!

I know what you mean, but adding Run To The Water, Waitress and Brothers Unaware is a pretty good start considering.

People are just used to complaining about this band now, it's become a habit if you will. They did that cover for a bit of that Blind willie song, played songs like Waitress, Mother Earth is A Vicious Crowd, Where Do We Go From Here, The Dam At Otter Creek, Pain Lies On The Riverside, The Beauty Of Gray, Voodoo Lady and their cover of I Walk The Line. Interchange all of these with all of the "regular" songs they've always played and I have to say that there isn't much to complain about.

I think that people just get whiny when they go to a show and don't get to hear EXACTLY what they wanted to hear.

Playing Brothers Unaware is fucking awesome. I love that song!

I've seen Run to the Water a shitload of times, so I don't care much about that. Waitress is cool, but not exactly a favorite of mine.

I've been pretty critical of Live's stagnant setlist in the past, and it still looked pretty stagnant last night, but dropping in something like Brothers Unaware is a start.

The big question is, is that all they have up their sleeve? If they start playing Brothers Unaware at all shows now and don't change anything else, it's just another part of a stagnant setlist.

If, on the other hand, one or two different rarities begin to work their way in on a nightly basis, then we may be on to something.

I'm going to the Anaheim show tomorrow night. We'll see what happens.

(Personally, I'm hoping for Mother Earth is a Vicious Crowd and Graze...).

I hear your point, but my point is that people were complaining about their setlist being the exact same all the time. I gave you a list of songs that they have put in and taken out. Maybe not the extensive list people would like, but it shows that they have made an effort to add quite a few songs.

But I can agree that I'd like to see songs like The River and All Over You taken out and other songs rotated in. Personally, I'd like to see Century, Where Fishes Go and even something like Stage added back in to the mix. But again, I get the feeling that no matter what they add to the mix, people are still going to whine. It seems to be a less than desireable trait that most Live fans I've come across posess without shame or recognition.

As for Run To The Water, I've been to 8 shows and have never seen it once.

8 shows and never seen it once? That's a pretty bad (or good in my case cos I dont like the song) record. I think they've played it at every show I've seen barring the Secret Samadhi tour because it wasn't out then. The thing im thinking is, as awesome as Brothers Unaware is im just hoping that thats not their big surprise and then when something else comes along its Brothers Unaware that is replaced. For instance, instead of dropping Selling the Drama for .. uh, TBD, they drop Brothers Unaware for it.

I don't think that it's a case of getting used to whinging about whatever the band does, it's just that the band are giving so many reasons to be whingey tongue.gif
I really liked the God don't ever change song and wished they kept that, I just wish for a total setlist overhaul, it's honestly not that hard to do.

I don't want a complete overhaul and I honestly don't think that 90 percent of Live fans do neither.

I wouldn't want to go see a LIVE show void OF Selling The Drama, I alone, Lightning Crashes, The Dolphins Cry and White Discussion. But I'd agree that I'd like To see the rest of the setlist for the most part replaced with other songs.

Well yeah I mean they're gonna always have to keep a certain few songs, Lightning Crashes, Lakini's Juice, I Alone, Dolphin's Cry and maybe 'Selling the Drama' .. but I think almost everything besides those should be fair game for swapping each tour. You could have a set number of songs each tour, say, 10, which are all changed from tour to tour, then you have your few mainstays and the rest can be from new albums. The reason everyone freaks the fuck out over ONE new song being added to the setlist it seems is because even that is rare, imagine the excitement and anticipation for new tours if we're completely blindsided by what they include and almost impossible to predict..

I'm also not really gonna whinge about what they add really .. sure I'd love more than anything for TBD, Ghost and Heropsychodreamer to be in the setlist when they come back to Australia, but if it happens to be Every time I see your face, Top and Deep Enough then hell I'll take it because it's not the same old, same old. Also they seem to now have this habit of adding songs for a few shows only, how long did DAOC last or even God Don't Ever Change for that matter.

I'd like to see some weird songs...

Stage
People Like you
Lighthouse
Heropsychodreamer

Any of these songs would make my year. The closest to getting played Is heropsychodreamer... Did they ever play People like you in concert?

my beef wasnt to do with the setlist. personally i'd love to see them sing any old stagnant setlist and id tear my shirt off and go nuts. im just dissapointed that there was no new material as i was hoping for an indication of a new album, and yes its my own fault for getting my hopes up.

Hey Guys and Girls, this is my first post although i am not new to this site...

I can't recall them ever playing People Like You in concert...personally I think it could potentially go off in concert, although it may seem weird hearing it.

Also I really do hope that they bring back Brothers Unware back into the setlist as it a personal favourite of mine, and hope that Ed and the boys deliver it with the passion that it should be delivered with as it has some of the most amazing lyrics

Yeah a sneak peek would be nice .. however still hard to judge .. Sofia in its current form with the awesome intro I think kicks ass live, and like I've said a few times for a few reasons I think a real missed oppertunity in it's recorded version .. however if I'd heard what it has become now before hearing the studio version I'd end up extremely disappointed.
It's exciting though, I remember hearing the recording of Like I Do a good 6 months before BOP was released and that really generated excitement.

I think People Like You has been played live, just not often .. I remember having an mp3 of it years ago before the great hardrive crash took place sad.gif Was pretty good quality recording from memory, and the song sounded much like it did on V, no great departure or anything.

I think you are exactly right about the Sofia intro...it is awesome and could have sounded amazing if done properly in the studio...But as you said if they had played the current version of the song in concert before the album was released, then many would have been exteremly dissapointed...including myself
