Got no problem with that dude. People like different things, all a matter of preference and/or circumstance.

But liking it and saying it's good musically like this guy is are two different things.

Cool, and I agree with your last statement. Some songs can be lyrically and musically terrible, but still annoyingly catchy. Crazy Frog, anyone? music.gif

I'm embarassed for both V and SFBM but if I had to pick one? Jesus, it'd have to be SFBM. I tried to listen to V again and give it a chance and was just horrified. Gotta be one of the worst albums I've ever heard by any artist EVER.

You certainly know how to fire up Live Rocks. While I agree that MJ is nothing at all like V, and absolutely shits on V, I think it is a big call to say V is one of the worst albums by any artist ever. I think I could name 5 that are worse than V.

Actually that can be a pretty good topic - Name an album worse than V

IMO, SFBM middlefinger.gif

In a non Live situation... hmm...

Linkin Park Reanimation

Guns And Roses The Spaghetti Incident?

2 albums that ended the glory days of 2 good bands.

Good bands?
uhoh.gif

Anyway, regarding V it's all been said. Not a good album, but one that quite a few people (myself included) seem to have an attachment to. Don't get me wrong, I really do think it's terrible, but it came out when I was bordering on being obsessed with the band... (I was 13 at the time)

I do think it's better than SFBM however; more passion, more energy, the fact that it was an experiment, a sense of fun.. and it seems like some of the songs from V actually had potential to be better than they ended up being. With SFBM I would honestly prefer never to have to hear anything from it ever again.

V does have it's moments. Overcome is a simple pop song but as far as simple pop songs go it's a well written one, and one that does strike a chord emotionally with (it seems) a lot of people; it has a good vocal melody, and the lyrics aren't too bad relatively. Though if it weren't Ed singing it would certainly be less strong.

There are a couple of other parts on the album which I think weren't too bad- Nobody Knows (despite all the crap it gets) is quite a typical Live ballad- rearrange it, change the lyrics and it has potential. Hero of Love could have been so much better, and there are some interesting moments in other songs.

There are a lot of albums that I'd rather not listen to than V. I really don't think it qualifies for worst album of all time or anything- for a start, even if you weren't familiar with the band, it's evident that they are musicians. Unlike a suprising amount of artists nowadays...

SFBM has Mystery, Love Shines, and The River. The only thing listenable on V is Simple Creed. SFBM is way better!

You've already proved your opinion doesn't count.

Besides we're not talking about songs that you like, we're discussing this from an objective perspective.

You really applied this to your RS analysis. You really need to stop contradicting yourself because it makes you sound like a douche bag!

If you check the track listing it actually does! If this is your opinion about those songs, or if you disagree with his statement, I think it could be more civily stated.

It's funny that if Hoodstock trashes V and supports some of SFBM you have a problem with it, but if you trash SFBM we're all supposed to argree with your opinion. Very ironic.

If you're just going to throw out negative one liners bashing everyone on the board instead of contributing or engaging in actual conversation I'm sure there are plenty of other boards you could go to with more people where you would get more gratification.
