Liverocks77, you are a total ass and a waste of space on this site.

I completely agree with Hoodstock, V is the worst album Live has ever produced. I won't waste my time breaking it down song by song because I just summed it up.

I'd rather be an ass than smell like ass you toothless hillbilly rapist; banana.gif

1. Intro

Does its job, but only when Simple Creed comes on straight after.

2. Simple Creed

I really like this song, the introduction is great with the drums building up. I know the lyrics aren't particularly strong, but I think the attitude of the song is decent and makes up for that. The interlude with Tricky isn't the best thing ever, but with a good sound overall, it's kicking...

3. Deep Enough

I know some people hate this, but I don't. Another good introduction in my opinion. It does have that techno feel to it which isn't seen as a "Live" as such, but I can dig it.

4. Like A Soldier

Again, a song that I like. The bridge is the weakest bit with Ed's high voice, but I really like the chorus. And the rap, to me, is pretty funky, in a cheesy way.

5. People Like You

The weakest song thus far, but still not bad. A bit meh, though.

6. Transmit Your Love

Another weaker song, a filler song, to be more accurate. However, "the outside world is a god damn shame" is a cool bit.

7. Forever May Not Be Long Enough

Back on track, I like this. I think the chorus is cool.

8. Call Me A Fool

I appreciate how some people dislike this for Ed's voice, but I quite like it. I don't know why, I just do. I know the lyrics, that helps in the ratings.

9. Flow

I think this is cool. The quiet to loud start is good. I also like the general pace of the song.

10. The Ride

Possibly one of Live's most forgettable tracks ever. Not too keen on it to be honest, I mean, I can listen to it but there are better options.

11. Nobody Knows

I like this, nothing to shout about as a song, but a decent filler.

12. OK?

I think this is cool. Yup, no lies, I like it. Quite un"Live", but it's upbeat, rocky(ish). Another one I can dig.

13. Overcome

A very nice song indeed, regardless of when it was written. Great vocal and melody througout, perhaps with the exception of the bit where he sort of stutters "I", I hope you get which bit I mean there.

14. Hero Of Love

Very TDTH, which is a good thing. Decent song.

15. Deep Enough (Remix)

I didn't like this at first, but it's grown on me. I wouldn't choose it, but I don't click off.

Overall Summary:

Not as bad as some people make out, but admittedly it is quite weak in comparison to other albums. I like it though, so screw you hippies. victory.gif

1. Intro
What can 1 say about an intro? I guess it on 1st hearing it, it gave me ideas of a very loud album, or atleast one that should be played very loud.

2. Simple Creed
This son gets me movin' like a white man should dance. it probably could have used a bit more bass but overall a great track.

3. Deep Enough
This song is the the greatest song to screw to. there is plenty of time in life to make love but this song is about the hard stuff.

4. Like A Soldier
I love this song. I feel the Lyrics are timeless as we continue to live in this consumerist society and world where corporations are destroying small business. I also live on a mountain with a strong anti-capitalist view so this so is always going to be up there in my top live songs.

5. People Like You
Once again this song speaks to my youth and who I an. as the song goes People hate People Like You. this is my life

6. Transmit Your Love
Now I'm not a jimmy Buffet fan but this song is tops. it slows the album down to give you a breather and still has those catch lyrics to keep you singing.

7. Forever May Not Be Long Enough
This song is my favourite off the album due to its Egyptian over tones and a personal joke between my partner and I. I think the female vocals on the album are brilliant even if they are minimal. and the song is at the perfect tempo and perfect bass. 10 out of 10 on this song.

8. Call Me A Fool
this is a classic ballad. brings the album to a complete stop. a song for lovers, for teenagers to listen and think trhat Ed is reading there soul. I like it but it is not in my top 10.

9. Flow
This song is set to bring everyone out of there reflective state and get you moving again. I love it it gets the blood pumping when your workin around the house and helps to pass the time.

10. The Ride
this song has great egyptian qualities to it with the use of what sounds like a sytar but also with its anti-capitalist lyrycs keeps me rockin out just alittle more.

11. Nobody Knows
Another throw away ballad. the lyrics create some contemplation but over all it is a good song written with the idea of being filler.

12. OK?
This is a song with some anger in it. i love it. more anti-establishment raging, with anti-war sub-plot and a general sick and tired attitude of seeing people consume whilst the basic needs of the people at the low end of the socio-ecconomical circle are screwed regularly. if more people would listen to songs like this perhaps change would begin to happen quicker than it is.

13. Overcome
I dont particularly like this song, to slow to boring, and its use to effect emotion during that event made me get over it real quick!
As ballads go its pretty tripe.

14. Hero Of Love
This is my type of Ballad. it is everything I felt as a teenager of what it was to fall in love (completely wrong but who cares) the ideas of fate and destiny overall one of the many songs on this album that make up my top 10.

15. Deep Enough (Remix)
How do you make a great song better? get your mate to help you remix it.

Overall this is one of my favourite albums. regardless of what others think this album brought me a lot of happiness that as I was changing from a conservitive Liberal voting (republican to Americans) to a left wing socialist who whats nothing more than to be unemployed because there is no need for community service workers.

1. Intro
Qualifies as an intro to Simple Creed, not an album intro but to each his own.

2. Simple Creed
Love it. Buzz kill: renders the album sequence anticlimactic

3. Deep Enough
An indulgently graphic testimonial that penis envy is to quasi-rap what insult is to injury.

4. Like A Soldier
This triumph-of-the-will mantra rather mocks itself so I’ll not go there and allow that it has been a gas to sing along with.

5. People Like You
Potentially remarkable elements [that] imitate alternating dream sequence. But that strategically intelligent design gets lost, reducing it to mere face value. Another decent sing along.

6. Transmit Your Love
Suitable for psyching up in route to a Live show, adapting the lyric to “Tell your leaders Live is in town”. Good for something.

7. Forever May Not Be Long Enough
For the love of all that is sacred, get that wailing banshee some STFU in a to-go cup. I’m aware that many consider that bit most enchanting about this tune, wish I could take it that well. Aside from the rudeness of initially making my ears bleed, I’m into this. It’s worthy, even darkly romantic.

8. Call Me A Fool
Light up that cigarette and calm the fuck down. All that delving into the implications of eternity a moment ago has flipped the script into the major mellow polar region.

9. Flow
Coming into this straight from the ballad stylings of CMAF, at max volume, ‘Flow’ approached a literal meaning - the opening startling me into nearly pissing myself. Gratefully not the sum extent of what this song has done. Provokes a fond word association type semblance to “Century”. In all, it rocks but the subdued parts get it more for me.

10. The Ride
Flow’s more attractive fraternal twin. Appreciated for about the same reason, as being more representative of the Live I recognize, albeit abstractly. The sound complements the song itself.

11. Nobody Knows
Somehow too familiar, just seems unoriginal to me, maybe I’m detecting some influence here and could call it inspired but whatever that bias of mine is about, it spoils this having a unique impression on me.

12. OK?
We momentarily interrupt this visit to our happy place to curse the piss in our Cheerios. Focal angst, discordant effect

13. Overcome
Would’ve presumed it too churched-up for general consumption but praises be, it’s been well received. Well deserved for this brilliant rock-gospel anthem.

14. Hero Of Love
To hell with sugar-sweet Nobody Knows and cocky-ass Deep Enough, this is the smooth shit I’d fall for right here.

15. Deep Enough (Remix)
Prefer the potent version over this diluted one

Overall Summary: An acquired taste

1. Intro
Wow what is this. Is this Live? From the soft start of TDTH to this. It's o.k, but I love the way it slides into Simple Creed

2. Simple Creed
A song that still is getting bether and bether. First the intro and now S.C.....I was sure this was a different sounding Live. A god song to start the cd with.
To my BIG surprise one of the bigest crow pleaser when they played Norway last time.

3. Deep Enough
They still keep the pase up. Love the back singing(ahhhhhhhahhhhhh) 1.21-1.23.
I like it.

4. Like A Soldier
It's o.k. Nothing more.

5. People Like You
Great start, and it keep going. 1.38-1.53 nice break with a nice back singing.

6. Transmit Your Love
o.k

7. Forever May Not Be Long Enough
Nice piano intro, but after that just o.k

8. Call Me A Fool
The first song that really got my atention first time I heard the cd. Love the start of the song.
Top 5 of the cd.

9. Flow
Now we are talking. The low start is so great.....and it just keep going. To me this is one of Live most undereatet song ever. I sure this is a killer played in concerts. I almost put this on my Top5 Live songs in another topic, but I didn't dare was afraid to be baned from this forum smile.gif Ed can scream Flow as many time he can, I don't care.........cause I found a way to flow
10. The Ride
Nice

11. Nobody Knows
Nice melody and singing, but weak chorus. And early favorite.

12. OK?
Not as bad as I remember, some part are o.k,but will never be a song I put on if I don't play the whole cd. Rap-Ed is really kicking it eyebrow.gif

13. Overcome
Mhhhhhhhhhhh....so great. The first favorite on the cd, and still is. I don't care if some think it's cheese ore soft, I think it's beautiful. The only Live song my girlfriend have said she liked.
The part between 1.53-2.15 lol.gif nod.gif thumbsup.gif

14. Hero Of Love
I think the cd should have ended with Overcome, so to me Hero of love always gona be the song that commes after the cd should have ended. But the song is nice enough.

15. Deep Enough (Remix)
What is this? Was they contracted to have 15 songs on the cd. no.gif

V is the only Live cd that has been number 1 in Norway. Not the greatest Live cd, but I would'n been with out it. 3-4 great songs. But an awful cd cover and Ed have a really bad hair day.

Sorry For resurrecting a dead thread but I seriously would like to change my statement on "The Ride"

This song is really good if listened to OUTSIDE of a V setting. Put it in the middle of TDTH and the eastern sound fits way better. It is a really good song that was killed by album placement.

in the east they can meditate they can recreate the sound of OM and bring us home i think i'll go there someday maybe for a holiday maybe just light a candle and take a seat for the ride

you don't need no money to fly to truly fly away you don't need no car to truly ride to truly ride away

in the west we think we're the best we've shown the whole wide world that money is all we care for now someday the scientists will see there's no such thing as gravity they'll all just light a candle take a seat for the ride

you don't need no money to fly to truly fly away you don't need no car to truly, truly ride to truly ride away

as you ascend in silence all doubt behind thee you reach the summit my friend and find your destiny

HUH? nervous.gif

You can read these lyrics and listen to that song and say it's good? omg.gif

You may like it, but FACT is, it's not a good song at all. It's not even mediocre. I'd say it's a stretch to say it sucks. The song fucking reeks and is embarassing. The lyrics speak for themselves and are downright laughable and there's nothing redeeming about it musically neither. Two chords on guitar maybe? What a joke.

The last line sounds like Ed up on a podium wearing a robe and preaching like a moron. This song sucks just as bad as any effort LIVE has put out. I'd go as far to say that this piece of shit song would be a bad effort for a band as pathetic as Maroon 5 or some faggot ass band like that.

I'm quite fond of The Ride, I don't mind the first verse, but the line "in the west, we think we're the best" absolutely kills me, it's like socks in bed, or sugar in tea, it's horrible. It reminds me (although nowhere near as bad) as Icky Thump "Americans what? nothing better to do? why don't you kick yourselves out you're an immigrant too" .. like seriously, fuck off and play music and leave politics to others.

Anyways, sidetracked.

as far as V goes, it's obvious it's not their best work. I'd still put it above BOP and SFBM. V to me is a more personal album, it came out in a tough time for me .. so this is where that whole "just because you like it doesn't make it good" thing comes out. I do like most of V, but I know it's tripe.

However to me this seems like the last live album with any passion on it ... it might not have worked, but I just get the sense that Ed more than anyone really believed in this stuff and really wanted to give it a try. To me V is easily forgiveable, it's an experimental album ... BOP and SFBM have no excuse. This was Live going out of their way to really try something different, they didnt pull it off but hey, so what.

OK? people like you, call me a fool and Transmit your love are horrid, the rest I like. But obviously not like to the extent that I hope they ever try it again. I like the crazy energy of Deep Enough, Tricky's part in Simple Creed is good, Flow I think is a pretty sweet song that'd probably go down well at a gig. The Beatlesesque keyboard in Nobody Knows is a nice touch. Ed's voice in Overcome is beautiful, however I hope to never hear him do it live again as he just can't recreate it. Lyrically the album is balls though.

Transmit and The Ride are similar. You have to listen to the sound and not really the words (something I rarely do) to appreciate them. Start Transmit from 2:45 and listen to the rest. The harmonies in this part and the awesome guitar scream make this song.

If you want compelling lyrics don't look here. If you measure a live album by instrumentals, this album is better than MJ.
