Chris Daughtry probably had very little to do with writing the song at all.

He did have a little to do with writing each song, but that is it.

it just sounds like everyone is jealous that daughtry is a million times more famous than live is, which he is.

Source it. Where is the record sales to prove that?

I think he's talking about right now, not when Live were at the top of their games selling millions.

Because Daughtry is the hot thing right now, just like Live were in the mid-90's. The only difference is that Live created their own music. They didn't have a team of writers to help milk the Nickelback formula of music to sell albums. Ever notice how almost all Daughtry songs have the same exact bridge where he sings the chorus in a slower key?! Its maddening!

wowhwow, I don't think they are even comparable in succes. yeah, Daughtry is hot at the moment in e USA, but not as Live was anno 1995 and 2000. Live was part of (and made) a musical genre with the band's of it's generation (the post grunge), but can you put Daughtry in any new, actual musical genre?? The Nickelback genre? No, it's just pop with good guitars through it just like many songs on SFBM).

I don't try to sound jealous in any way (I admit that I play his album a lot lately), but Daughtry being a million times more famous than Live? Well, again as stated before, when you check Live top years, it's just not comparable, Daughtry will in no way be remembered as Live about say 30 years.
I mean the Sugababes or Robbie Williams are maybe also a million times more famous than Live? But that's POP. And why being jealous about POP being more popular? POP(=popular), will always be more popular.

again, what does that have to do with the statement i made? I'm not talking about 1995 which is a lifetime ago. Im talking about now. SFBM was a dud, and you can blame the evil record label if u want, im gonna go with the fact the album sucked hard.

i dont get it, you just previously reffered to SFBM as POP and daughtry's music as POP, now you say that POP will always be more popular than live.....obviously they suck at pop too. oh wait, the evil record label didnt push their crappy album

Who they hell are they?? I know who Robin Williams is... he's an actor. I think that Live's popularity is comparable to Modest Mouse. A really good album, with 2 hits... (Float On and Ocean Breathes Salty) and a new album with maybe one song (Dashboard.) In 30 years I bet they will both be remembered the same.

haha you don't know them? well they were just examples of 2 international artists that are very popular here in Holland for years, and are very POP, but yeah, maybe they aren't that representative for the USA... nervous.gif

in fact, SFBM would have done a lot better in the US I think, if the record label pushed them better, Actually I'm sure about that.

But as you said, you can't blame them for Live making a pop album

well...in fact you can... lol.gif SFBM was made to sell it to a major label, like Sony epic, so the sound was created for sony...... but then again, Live chose to go with sony heynow.gif hmmm...whatever.

SFBM was shit, I wish people would stop arguing to the contrary. SFBM got exactly what it deserved, harsh reviews by critics and no sales.

The album is poorly written and the music sucks plain and simple. Most of the songs have no more than 2 chords played on guitar and Pat's bass is invisible. The lyrics suck so bad, I'm embarassed to listen to the garbage anymore. If I can remember correctly, there isn't one single song with any kind of bridge, which tells me the music was thrown together without much thought, or with any respect in the realm of musical integrity.

"Ewwww baby let my loving ease your pain" sounds like something Britney Spears would have written recently in her crack induced whore bag haze. Get ready stole the big bad drum crash from a Ford commercial. Love shines has two ten word verses written with the same chorus wrapped around it 60 times. I could go on and on and on and on.

Like this piece of shit record all you want. FACT is that musically it is subpar for Live. Second, it is subpar musically for ANY ROCK BAND period. The lyrics and music could have easily been written by a thirteen year old learning guitar.

QUOTE(Heavens Freaks @ Apr 19 2007, 3:50 am) *

im glad someone did bring this topic up cause aswell does anyone think that theres a very similar guitar rifts with Daughtry's 'It's Not Over' and Live's 'Night Of Nights'? im from Oz and i only heard of Daughtry's album in February and i think it came out alot earlier in America and when i heard it, it sounded alot like Live's SFBM track...any thoughts
btw im not trying to diss Daughtry i really really like 'em but ive been thinking this since i first heard it

Apparently that song was written by Sabrina the Teenage Witch's husband lol.gif . True story:

http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2007/01/...try-on-myspace/

Only thing Daughtry contributed to it was new lyrics for the chorus apparently. Pretty sad.
