Does this song exist or is it just a mith? Does anyone really have any info on it? was it recorded? If it was, for what album? was it only played live? And was it an actual written song or just an improv? Any info is really appreciated. I'm trying to find it to help a friend. Thanks

New City was an actual song that was played at a few shows around 1998. I believe it is a TDTH outtake, coming from the early TDTH material along with Vine Street, Don't Wait, Still Aroused and Change, among others, all of which were dropped from TDTH in favor of newer material. This is what I've pieced together and it may not be entirely accurate.

The song was recorded at least once in concert and was also recorded in the studio. The studio version is up there with Mallrat and Change in terms of difficulty to obtain, but I know someone who has the concert recording of it. I was on the verge of obtaining it a few months ago and lost track of it because I got too busy with school, but I'll see what I can find out.

I don't believe you when you say you have it, but if you do post it here.

cool thumbsup.gif
but what kind of concert recording is it? Is it some good quality, or comparable to live versions of Still Aroused and Overcome Full Band that can be downloaded on Bootlegheaven? (cuz they are quite crappy eyebrow.gif ). Or haven't you heard the version yourself at all?

Does anyone on here actually own a copy of this song? It sounds like there is a live version floating around somewhere, but does anyone really have a studio cut?

If there is a studio cut, it is owned by very few people. Nobody on here has ever heard it, I can almost guarantee that. If it exists, it is buried somewhere in the band's vault.

A live version is not really "floating around somewhere." Although we know they played the song at a few shows, good luck finding even a live copy anywhere. I have searched for years, going so far as to contact people VERY close to the band, to no avail.

I would say this song is fans' holy grail -- few, if anybody, has it, but it is looked for and desired by almost everyone.

It's not floating around, but it does exist and I know someone who definitely has it. Getting her to share it, on the other hand, has proven quite difficult.

I have viewed a quality video version of it. It was back in 2001 before rolling rock. I only know of one person who has it. Its definitely not floating around. I have not heard a studio version. Its been some time, but I remember it to be a really good song.

I LOVE Lift Me Up!!!!!! It's one of the gems on my iPod.

I never heard of New City, but I'm learning that there are a lot of things that Live have done that I don't know about. innocent.gif
