I just got Rock Band for Xbox 360 for Xmas and it is one of the most fun games I ever played. I'm doing okay on easy leve and find it easier to songs that I'm familar with as long as the pitch isn't out of control.

Who has or has played this game and what do they think?

Don't brag Tina! I can get in the 90 range on certain songs, other songs I'm horrendous! I guess you just have a musical ear smile.gif

The drums do look like fun, but I have no room for them yet with the Xmas tree up. When I try them, I'll give you a review.

We almost got Guitar Hero for our 8 year old son for Christmas (he has Playstation 2) but we saw some kids younger than him acing it in Best Buy and it reminded me of the game Simon and looked like it'd get boring as hell fast, considering 5 year olds were doing it like it was nothing. Some friends of ours got it a while back for their 10 year old son, and the dad plays it more than the kid, but he said it's not really like guitar, its more a rhythm skill, like drumming. If it really was like playing guitar, I'd be into myself.

Anyway, my aunt teaches guitar, she gave me a Fender amp for him and I need to get him a guitar. Would Guitar Hero help him learn at all - or does he need a real guitar?

I saw Rock Star in stores. Do they make it for Playstation 2? Fill me in about it. Can my family of 4 all play together?

Happy New Year y'all !!

My youngest daughter LOVES the guitar and has been plinking and plunking on her battered guitar for way to long. She has even written a few tunes so we bought her an electric guitar, amp and lessons for Christmas. It was a treat to see her freak out, strap on the guitar, plug it in and let loose. smile.gif Bad me, I forgot to buy ear plugs. LOL~

We wanted her to try the real deal before we got the game.

I have to say. I play the real guitar. I'm not great at it, but I can play. When I played guitar hero, it was very different. I couldn't get the hang of it at all. I won't play now...I'm so stubborn. innocent.gif

Rock Band can have up to 4 players at a time...Drums, guitar, bass and singer. It is definately fun for the whole family. thumbsup.gif

That game looks like a blast. It combines Kareoke Revolution, Guitar Hero, and a drum set. If I break down to get a PS3 I'd love to try it out.

I got rock band for christmas, and it does rock! Pretty good song list, but there is a bunch of crap along with the good stuff. Playing the rock band guitar is almost nothing like real guitar (I play real guitar, but I'm not any good tongue.gif ). The drums ARE pretty similar to real drums, according to my brother though.

I Alone would be the perfect song for Rock Band 2. We better vote our butts off to get it on.

Rock band is great! Go guitar hero if you want to play the guitar though... Rock band's guitars are kinda boring and harder to hit than guitar hero. Overall it is better than guitar hero just because of drums and singing. Perfect college game! smile.gif

Had to revive this thread.

This game is a lot of fun. Try playing bass on hard for songs like Blackened or And Justice For All from Metallica, it is crazy hard. The guitar is actually kind of similar except that you are hitting colored buttons instead of strings. The strumming is the same, just not nearly as much movement on the other hand.

My buddy, who is damn good on a real guitar, plays most of the songs on expert and the notes come unbelieveably fast. I can't believe he hits them the way he does. We play in his basement in a soundproof room on a system that pumps almost 1,500 watts. Dude has his system hooked up to his receiver and it pumps some serious sound.

I think Live would be a good fit for this game due to the difficulty of the vocals. But there are probably only a handful of songs that would be challenging on the instruments such as I alone, Stage and probably a few others.

We should get together and email the company who made the game and makes the deals with the record companies for the rights to the music. I think their name is harmonix and they are owned by Viacom with MTV something or other being a parent company that's getting involved in order to get some of the music out of the record companies.

I'll post the Wikipedia link that talks all about it tomorrow or something. It's too late now and I'm tired and high. strawberry.gif

Hi fellow live groupies! I just purchased Rock Band a few weeks ago and it's fantastic. I also have guitar hero and I have to say...the actual guitar on guitar hero is much easier to work with, but overall Rock Band is great. The drums are super difficult...even on easy. I've attempted medium just once and was totally 'booed' off the stage...LOL! My favorite song to sing on Rock Band is Weezer...'Say it ain't so.' I highly recommend Rock Band to anyone who's thinking on it. I have Rock Band for the Xbox 360 and Guitar hero for the Wii, I will agree that the Xbox 360 has the better graphics!

Have a great day!
Melissa

Where I live, we get ticked if someone plays that song b/c we hear it too much! My favourites are:

The Who: Won't get Fooled again
T Rex: Bang a Gong
Radiohead: Creep

I wish live would jump on the (Rock band)wagon with this... Imagine a 3 song pack released something like...

I Alone
White Discussion
Lakini's Juice

I'd spend like $20 dollars right now to play these.
