I really couldn't care less about the current arguing, just doing so to try and breathe a bit of life back into this place .. the whole VH1 poll thing was just ridiculous, whinging about where Live should have been and how they were screwed out of it winning (Nick lol). So just so you know, im arguing now for pure funs sake, I think you and I are past the initial actual aggression stage by now and can enter into some good natured hate fueled banter! I honestly couldn't care less how much you swear, im not offended by it ... just seemed like a good thing to argue about

I don't think Live should have won the poll, but I do think Lightning Crashes should have finished in the top 20. I Alone was an ill-conceived choice, since LC is clearly the band's defining song.

I don't really watch VH1 so i don't really know there style, but is it possible they went with I Alone because of it's rockier/harder edge, is that what their shtick is? Or maybe they're going with what is more popular in their records/requests .. maybe I Alone really did beat LC from a VH1 perspective .. certainly LC was the bigger of the 2 overall.

On the VH1 website you couldn't vote for Lightning Crashes, they only had I Alone up for nomination. VH1 hardly plays edgy music either. So, I don't know who was responsible for the oversight.

The program was entertaining, and Ed K. came off pretty well. They just should have been placed higher on the list with the correct song.

VH1's simple ode to Live in their predictable, irrelevant countdown was amusing to me. I didn't watch the whole program, but I've never known them to deliver genuine praise and due credit to ANY of the artists they feature on those list shows. It's always a blunt snark-fest masquerading as subtle and nostalgic with that pissy-toned chick on narration. On the same gutter-level as E!, it has a limited entertainment value, not intended as any credible source. They seriously need to get a narrator to do the 'Great and Powerful Oz' voice bit from the Wizard of Oz. I think it'd be a clever way of acknowledging how full of shit they are and might eliminate the apparent confusion and disappointment among those who overestimate the authority and require official affirmations of worthiness.

Anyhow, the best compliment came from Collective Soul's Ed Roland, when he turned to brother Dean and remarked something to the effect of "If I sounded as good as Ed, I'd go solo and tell you to kiss my ass" Clarifying himself with "That Ed" when prompted by a funny look from Dean.

Hmmm. continuing to discuss it with Nick after you just called the idea of the thread moronic? Saying Nick was whining about how LIVE placed.

Guess that makes you even fucking dumber than the idea of this thread. Scratch that, it makes you far more of an idiot. rockin.gif

No surprise there! banana.gif banana.gif

I only saw the 'I alone' segment two nights ago on vh1.

Ed came of damn well, you're right.

I'm disappointed that LC wasn't chosen, and as to their reasons, who knows. Far be it from me to figure out the minds of other people!
