'Quoted for semi~agreement, save for the line about the Pac-10 and about the Ducks. Not only is Dixon hurt but we are decimated on both sides. I was born into a Big-10 family but am a Pac-10 girl at heart.

Btw~Mizzouri is spelled MISSOURI.

mizzouri is more fitting cause i fall asleep watching them.i think they are done tho oklahoma should pound them but its been a crazy season so who knows

QUOTE(Existentialist @ Nov 22 2007, 2:45 pm) *

Dixon has been good. He had a super impressive 2,719 all purpose yards, a passer rating of 161.4, and 29 touchdowns against a schedule that included 2 teams currently in the top 25....as a senior.

Tim Tebow had a much better sophomore season. He has 3,619 all purpose yards, a passer rating of 177.5, 46 touchdowns, and became the first player in NCAA history to have 20 rushing and 20 passing TD in a single season against a schedule that included 4 teams currently in the top 25......as a sophomore.

So sure, Dixon for the Heisman! He only had 900 yards and 17 touchdowns less than a sophomore playing harder competition across the country! yay.gif

florida would still be a good team with out tebow oregon is a bottom feeder without dixon.do you really think they woulda gotten shut out by UCLA if dixon was in there?tebow is the shit but noone means more to THEIR! team than D.D.

bottom feeders?!?!!?! they may suck now but that place is reserved for the huskies. not only did we lose dixon, we have lost a few more impact players than i like to think about.

he is the heart and soul of the team, esp after last season when he could do nothing. he was magic to watch when he was on the field. so sad the way it ended. thx for the nice thoughts.

I'm too lazy to quote all the stuff, but here are a few remarks.

No, I'm not ready to rethink the possibility of OSU playing WVU in the BCS game. I'm confident MiSSouri will beat Oklahoma and end up playing WVU. I agree that they'll get blown out, and WVU will be the champion. To clarify, Missouri will not end up playing OSU, unless the unthinkable happens and Pitt beats WVU.

As far as the Heisman goes, how important a player is to his team means very little. Dixon sure is important to Oregon, because the rest of their team sucks. Say we sent Jimmy Clausen to Truman State, he performed the same as he did this year, yet still led Truman State over all their crappy competition. Should he win the Heisman? What if we sent Todd Boeckman to Kent State, he performed the same as he did this year, yet led Kent State to an undefeated season. Should he win the Heisman? Hopefully not.

But, if you really want to play that "importance to the team" game, let's look at just how important Tebow is to UF, despite their loads of other talent. 67% of the offense is run through Tebow, more than any other player in the country. Tebow has 51 touchdowns on the year (count em, more than one per quarter), more than any other player in the history of college football. And you think that isn't as important to UF as Dixon was to Oregon?

All of the coaches who have gone against Tebow marvel at his ability. Bowden said he would be shocked if he didn't win the Heisman, and I agree. I will guarantee you both one thing, and that is if Tebow doesn't get the Heisman, he will finish higher in the voting than Dixon. Anyone care to put money on that?

Congrats to Dennis Dixon for being selected as a third team All American. Also congrats to Tim Tebow for being selected as a first team All American! banana.gif
