Hello everybody, here you have another +Live+ freak, I follow this forum for a long time but my lazy ass never was up to register.

What struck me last night when I listened too all this Live remixes and outtakes, what would happened if Live was to do The Best of with some symphony orchestra? Like Metallica's S/M stuff. I think it would be awsome, since Live have melodic and rocky songs, and Ed's voice would fit in perfect. I dunno if this idea was up in this forum, if it was, then lock this. If not, I would like too hear you'r comments on this idea.

Big love from Bosnia! surrender.gif strawberry.gif

ps. TDTH is one of the best records ever made....There I said it. rockin.gif guitar.gif

In my opinion Metallica's S&M and Collective Soul's Home are some of the best from those bands.

So I definitely wouldn't be against the idea.

I would love to hear Lightning Crashes with a full chorus doing background vocals and such. I think I'd evaporate.

I was just gonna start a thread on this very topic, but decided to search "symphony" to see if anyone else had brought this up. Great idea!

It can't be just any orchestra. It would be have to be a well-known and respected full size orchestra, and this pairing would be captured and presented in HD for the upcoming DVD (and also sold on CD). The audience would be homespun members, Friendsoflive members, and all the long-time loyal fans. Why can't they pull off something like this?

Because the costs would be too great and it wouldn't sell.

Hey! Great idea. And, by the way, TDTH is great and is my favorite record of all time.

The price of it would be huge. They'd need someone (good!) to arrange and orchestrate, the orchestra itself would cost a lot, especially if they were well known- not only for the gig nights, but also for rehearsals... and if they were to release on DVD, the sound set-up would be far more elaborate than the standard live show- the acoustic nuances of the venue would need to be considered far more than they would normally...

Yeah, I don't think it's practical. Some of the stuff would be epic... but I wouldn't want the orchestra to just be a sort of auxilliary rhythm section- they'd have to arrange some interesting counter-melodies, etc... S&M was very well done for the most part.
