I've considered making this thread for a long time but avoided it b/c not every member is from America and might be left out. Still, I'll go on.

Who are you supporting for the presidential race of 2008 in the U.S? If you want, you can also discuss members of politics in other countries as well if you feel others might follow you (lot's of aussies on the board!)

Also, is there anyone you would just hate to see leading your country? I want to know who the fans of live want to run the country! bounce.gif

Ron Paul would be ideal, but for someone with a realistic chance, I'd support Hillary. yay.gif

I'll look at the overall picture and see what the objectives are. The economy and international policy are the primary factors to focus on. Odds are, based on what I've heard from all of the current candidates, that I will not be voting Republican. It's not that the Democratic platform is flawless, it's that it is way better than anything the Republicans stand for right now.

Politics is a total joke in this country. It is a shame that citizens are so stupid they vote blindly and strictly on party lines, regardless of what the candidate stands for or has done. People also base their vote completely on miniscule factors like abortion, when deciding who will be running an entire country. There are bigger issues for a commander and chief to worry about. Failing to recognize that is dumbfounding.

As a person facinated with history I truely believe that when everything is settled and history is written this current administration will be reflected upon as the most corrupt and ineffective one to date.

Dude... This is exactly what I think... creepy nervous.gif

I'm going to support Ron Paul as much as I can however... He is only as unlikely as we view him. I agree with him on most issues except Abortion. Hoodstock made a good point though that a simple thing like abortion shouldn't get in the way of the big picture. I do believe the government should stay out of a woman's private life but Paul only hates abortion because he was a doctor and stuff.

I'm a little biased I think though... His son came and gave a small campaign speech at UNT. If any other candidate came to my school I guess I would care for them too but all they care about is winning the evangelical and elderly vote (which are sometimes the same thing...)

Definitely not Hillary. Dennis Kucinich is my man, followed by Bill Richardson and Ron Paul. I would vote for Al Gore in a heartbeat.

Politics is a dangerous topic because everyone feels they know better.

However as an Australia viewing the USA elections Id say I'd vote for the candidate that looks to creating or improving the health care industry.
We have a relatively free health care programme in Australia and it keeps the country going. as they say a health country is a working country.

in the Australian elections I'm voting Green's. I vote based on Drug policies as a community services worker the strength of a party as I see it is based on how they treat the lowest rung of a community. but also for any party that doesn't preferance LIBERAL. It is important to remove a party after so many years in power that continue to view locking up addicts as a way of dealing with drug addiction.
help drug addicts, reduce crime, create a better society.

As the song goes: Mothers teach yourf children well.

Free health care is a really, really bad idea. It might work in Australia but it would be a disaster in the United States.

True thumbsup.gif

The same politicians that instate free health care are also going to be the ones that use private health care.

I also feel one of the best things america can do is to stop giving out money overseas. Let other countries make a profit themselves.
