Sadly, about 60% of live songs I would feel weird listening to with my friends in the car. I can't touch V, BoP or SFBM. DOAD is out too. sad.gif

You should take all of their CD's and make a best of CD for your car. That's what I've got and it rocks. I'm also digging the new album, it's good stuff (new to me).

Just found this on the Netherlands fansite. Thought I'd share : ) I think it goes with the topic.

"Nieuw" album LIVE

Live heeft vrijdag aangekondigd in eigen beheer een live-LIVE CD uit te brengen. Op het album vind je naast 10 bootleg nummers (opgenomen tijdens een live show) ook nog eens 2 niet eerder uitgebrachte nummers.

Het album heet 'Radiant Sea: A Collection of Bootleg Rarities and Two New Songs' en is momenteel slechts via de Amerikaanse fanclub te koop.

Good idea. I always like to trade music with people and give people a copy of SS or MJ to explore. Now the only problem is that I have too many friends laugh.gif

Here's a sample with just 4 of my friends and me:

Jeremiah~Stray Dog Freedom: Bright Eyes
Emily~ Faith Hope Love: King's X
Kendall~Destiny: Strativarious
Me~ White Discussion: Live
Matty~ Slave to the Grind: Skid Row

That would be one random car. I like all these songs so I am biased tongue.gif

You guys probably don't know King's X or Strativarious.

I change my pick.

Radiant Sea is a GOOD song.

Man, it's been a long time since I said that about a Live song.

I really like both of them, so I voted for that option. I'm a bit disappointed by a few of the things I've read here - it seems to me that some Live fans don't know what they want any more. I read the stupidest thing on the first page from someone who liked Radiant Sea but said 'it's not old enough to be a classic'. That translates to me as 'Never mind the music, if it doesn't come from the TC era then we don't care.' I think it's a shame as if you'd just drop your nostalgia and perception of what Live used to be, then you'd be more open to embracing what they are doing in the present. Though if what's coming out now just isn't to your musical tastes, I can't really argue with that, just don't compare it to 15 years ago as there is really no point. I've changed a lot in 15 years, I'm sure they have too guitar.gif

QUOTE(Hoodstock @ Sep 21 2007, 9:18 pm) *

In regards to the topic, I'm in the minority thinking that Beautiful Invisible is the better song.

I want to be clear that neither song could be a single (as is) but both songs are fine. If I were to guess Beautiful Invisible sounds like it was left off of TDTH. It sound of the era but doesn't really fit the CD. I think Radiant Sea is a cut from the V album.

Of the two, Beautiful Invisible has a unique sound, the dropping guitar riff during the verses is a sweet moment, and it's a different vibe from Live. To critique the song and make it better I would stick the refrain with "Beautiful, Invisible, Beautiful" and add a tail to the second Beautiful rather than having the second invisible. I think this would give it single potential.

I've read people complaining about the mixing of Radiant Sea and Ed's voice being to low. I don't think this was an accident. Listening carefully to it I believe it was done intentionally so the deep voice during the song would stand over Ed's voice in the backgroud. I think it was strictly an artistic decision.

Regardless, love the CD. Thanks Live. Can't wait for more new music! music.gif

I very much agree with Hoodstock! I just got the CD yesterday and immediately popped it in the player to hear the two "new" songs. Yeah, neither really sound like hits and I don't see these getting much and/or any radio play. Think of the songs on the radio now. Could you hear either of these on your rock alternative or even "Mix" station? I personally cannot. Unfortunately, many bands rely on radio play to sell records. Granted, LIVE does have a strong fan base who will keep them fueled but realistically, the record company wants their cut of the pie. devil.gif

I had forgotten BI and RS were outtakes from the previous albums. And my initial thought last night was - Man, these really don't sound "new" - I hope this isn't the direction the guys are taking! BI reminded me of a MTV Unplugged jam session or something. I thought it was better than RS. RS just sounded like typical LIVE. I wasn't honestly too impressed. But as some say, the songs grow on you - as do many of their songs do with me. My taste is more into Lakini's Juice or VooDoo Lady - loud rockin out guitars! rockin.gif

But I too cannot wait for new stuff ... and will continue to support the guys, even if I don't agree to every song they include on their albums! thumbsup.gif

The more I hear Radiant Sea the less I like it. Beautiful Invisible does not sound the same at all and it is a far superior song thumbsup.gif . The only Live song comparable is Horse, but it is better.

I thought Nobody Knows was the worst track on there, Ed's voice came accross very strained throughout most of the song. To me, anywho.

I don't like the V version of Overcome, but I really liked the version on this album. I've been playing the whole thing in my car lately and I'm really liking the RS album as a whole. My only complaint is the order of the songs. I've been playing it on shuffle mode.
