I've been scanning CollectiveSoul.com the past few weeks, and notice that there are quite a fews threads knocking Live. If you look at both Live boards, Collective Soul have been pretty much ignored since early summer, so what is bringing on the hostility? My guess is that a certain throng of the CS fanbase are jealous of the fact that Live are closing the shows during this Fall tour.

I can understand being upset that your favorite band isn't headlining a tour, but Live opened for Counting Crows almost the entire summer and it was generally accepted because the CC have a larger US fanbase. In the majority of the country, Live sells more tickets than CS. They have also outsold CS by nearly 10 million CD's worldwide. Live would not be the headliner if promoters didn't feel they were the bigger band. Nothing personal, just business.

Just my thoughts.

I don't think we as a forum hate CS collectively. I haven't heard one person say they didn't like CS so I don't think we can do much to stop the hate because most of it is on their side.

Now, Saying they are "jealous of live" doesn't exactly stop any animosity between fans.

Aren't you being just like them by talking about their band like that?

I'm sure they are saying and feeling the same about us.

Oh, thank you. LIVE and CS are my two favorites and I happen to think CS's latest effort was better than LIVE's. I'm such a tool.

It's totally justified. The band that opened for them in Detroit was better. They are seriously one of the worst acts I have ever seen live, right up their with Counting Crows. They are simply bands that sound great on record but suck in reality.

laugh.gif ! Like I said their CD's aren't bad but they suck live. In all honesty, though, music is all in the eye of the beholder. To each his own J.Sax. Listen to what ya love and fuck the rest.

I disagree Hoodstock, I don't think Collective Soul are that great on CD either. In concert, they are atrocious and I'm with you on that.

I was trying to be nice, but now that you mention it they really suck! They are actually unlistenable.

Yes, even their CD's suck ass. So don't worry about disagreeing. I feel sorry for anyone who thinks they are good. You need to check your musical tastebuds!

However, CS had seven consecutive #1 hits at one point, which is something Live never accomplished.

Ummmmmm, no? They had four consecutive at one point and one didn't desrve it at all, that being Where The River Flows, which is an average song if that. They've had 7 number ones altogether is what you meant.

Even at that, a band with that many hits and still only 10 million albums sold? Guess I'm a tool too then so add me to that list. But keep in mind that a lot of people would say the same about you for listening to Live. Over the last 10 years, Collective Souls music blows Live's away, no contest, end of story. Before that, I'd give the edge to Live. Both of their music was good but Live's was bordering on genius.

Ha, well sorry to knock it but to me, it's not a number one song is all. I think the rest of the tunes that have reached number one for them are well deserved. I just think the disrespect being given to both bands by each others fan base is retarded, childish and ignorant.
