Radiant Sea is definately a darker style of song, still feel that Ed is a bit drowned out by the backing track more in the chorus than the verse. Mmm the talk rapping is a bit weird, this song is not immediately catchy, but unusual and VERY different in style to BI. Screaming guitars to fade out are quite full on. This needs alot more listens.

... A true fan of live wouldn't steal their songs. I don't regret giving 2 dollars to them to hear it 8 hours in advance. I hope someone gets banned for leaking the new songs... or did they get banned already?

I agree, I wish Ed's vocals were louder in Radiant Sea. I personally don't think that song had final mixing take place. I still like the song quite a lot.

I would love for Beautiful Invisible to be released as a single, I think its one of Live's best songs in a really long time.

Well, according to Radioactive's page:

Unpublished Works By LIVE:
Hold Me Up
Susquehanna
We Deal In Dreams
Horse
Mall Rat a.k.a Crayons
Cheetah
Evidence a.k.a. Photograph

Pop Vortex
Vine Street
Overcome
Change
New City
Don’t Wait
Deeper
Sun
Still Aroused

Some have leaked to the net but I still haven't heard deeper, change, new city, don't wait, hold me up pop vortex, mall rat, or photograph. If someone HAS those songs point me in their direction happy.gif

And to answer your question, no I don't think they will ever release them because Radioactive has a vicegrip on them and it would take alot of money on live's part to get them back again. They wouldn't see a return on it either because chances are they aren't album worthy.

I still think it's weird that Radioactive has those songs listed on their site. It almost seems unprofessional and taunting. Some of those songs are clearly published or available on an album (Horse, Sun, We Deal In Dreams and Vine Street being available as a legally released b-side).

Where does this information come from that Radioactive has a "vicegrip on them and it would take a lot of money on Live's part to get them back again"? Radioactive may own these recordings but I believe Live chose to never release these as b-sides.

Is there any official information somewhere that says Radioactive and Live fought over the cost and/or release of these songs, or is that just fan speculation? I honestly think Radioactive would love to dump those b-sides as an album, I'd say it could easily sell 100,000-200,000 copies worldwide. Not bad for what would just be a packaging job of old recordings that's studio time was paid for years ago.

The site is real. I have spoken with a member of the band and he described buying the rights to the old songs as requiring considerable expense and trouble, but did not elaborate on why. The album wouldn't sell shit, but I consider those outtakes to be some of Live's best work.

Thanks for backing up what I said. I knew someone around here told me the old songs were costly. Yeah, Susquehanna should have been where horse was on the album. Imagine that... wouldn't it have been great? nod.gif

You can find Deeper, Don't Wait and Hold Me Up in my rarities thread, but they're pretty big files full of a ton of MP3's. Worth it though, if you don't have the stuff.

You can also find shoddy live recordings of Change, Mall Rat and Photograph in the thread on Where Freaks Talk, which is linked to toward the start of my post.

You can find live recordings of some of these on bootleg heaven (bootlegheaven.com). Not sure when, but you can find each around the time prior to the album it was "supposed" to be released on. For instance, Don't Wait can be found on the 1998-06-09 mp3 show.

I know the site is real, but when I first saw it, I was skeptical. Just seems like Radioactive is going out of their way to let Live fans know that there is some great unreleased material that is just being sit on. It does beg the question, does Radioactive have the rights to release that material without Live's consent?

Buying the rights back to the old songs would certainly be costly, just like it would be costly if they tried to buy back rights to their old albums. However, if the band and label mutually agreed on a deal to release the material (so they both benefit) I wouldn't see the harm in it. It seems like with Live's worldwide popularity, it shouldn't be hard to turn a small profit.

Back to Radioactive, I didn't pay attention to whatever happened with Radioactive and Live a couple years back. Did Radioactive/MCA just drop them? Was there bad blood with the band/management and the label? I know the Best Of seemed amicable. Obviously, the band/label's relationship would play a big role in whether a deal could be worked out for the b-sides, etc.

I got my copy of the digital download today. Personally, i think that the Live recordings are really good ones, especially for Pillar of Davidson; brilliant recording, especially during the final section with the backing vocals, i love it.

The two new songs, however? i really, really like Beautiful Invisible for its experimentation qualities, and i think its rather catchy, but Ed's falsetto just slaughters it! Ah! please, Ed, if you're reading this... no more falsetto, please, its killing me. Otherwise, Beautiful Invisible for me would be perfectly enjoyable, still an ok song in my opinion.

Radiant Sea? it starts out almost perfectly, but then come the chorus, i am oh so disappointed! AH! that chorus should have so much more energy behind it! otherwise, this song is quite good, i'll put it just about Beautiful Invisible, as both are quite enjoyable, yet each has their own distinctive flaws. However, the guitar from Chad T with the fierce wah-wah on it is very nice i believe, haha just it suffers from Feel The Quiet River Rage syndrome, where the song just starts fading out as soon as he starts going crazy.... does anyone agree with me on that? Listen to FTQRR, right at the end Chad T starts playing a nice solo, and the song fades out. Ahem...why? bad choice, i say!

Still, i find this Radiant Sea album quite nice as a Live-live cd, haha and the two new songs are nice bonus. Perhaps sticking to their own independent label is a good idea? Can't wait to hear what the future will bring with the new album, hopefully there will be some extra power to it as to SFBM, but either way i'll be happy with any new Live tunes lol.gif bring it on

ahh and may i add, Radiant Sea has the best recording of Nobody Knows on it as well, the Pinkpop 2002 version. Absolutely love the final minute or so, Chad T's guitar sounds so powerful, and in conjunction with Pat's bass, Chad G's drumming and Ed's voice weaving through it all, it sounds so nice... hehe great choice for that one.

Its the same one from pinkpop 2002? see thats why I got none of the live versions, why release an audio version of a song that you released as a mini DVD to go along with one of your albums? (BOP), if this is for the hardcore fans then I'm sure there are more hardcore fans than me now and I ripped the audio from that DVD 4years ago..
