95.5 WPLJ radio in NYC is doing a Labor Day countdown of the top 500 songs of the last 20 years, and Lightning Crashes came in at 116 and Heaven came in at #62. Pretty cool stuff!

How Heaven beat Lightning Crashes I have no clue, but its nice that Live received some respect from the station.

In my opinion, Heaven is a better song than Lightning crashes. If they were actually playing the songs in the countdown it would be one of the rare times you hear a non TC Live song on the radio today.

All you older members that can remember, was there a time when songs from SS and TDTH made it onto the radio? Heaven might make it onto a christian station somewhere but that is about it... sad.gif

I agree that people could think Heaven is a better song than Lightning Crashes, however this countdown was the BIGGEST songs of the last 20 years. No way Heaven was a bigger hit than LC.

ohww yes, for sure!
I'm not sure about LJ, TMH etc, (cuz Live got my attention with TDTH), but TDC and RTTW were REAL radio hits, in Holland at least. Maybe even bigger than Heaven, although I heard Heaven maybe also more than you wanted a song get played, haha lol.gif ). I don't remember about TSUFL, but they played it on the radio for sure.

Anyhoo, cool 2 Live songs in the list smile.gif

I actually heard LJ on the radio yesterday for the first time in 8 years. I even remember when Rattlesnake was on the radio.

I honestly cannot phathom how anybody alive might even consider Heaven being a better song than LC.

Heaven gets play here regularly on rock and AC stations but Lightning Crashes still much much more and rightfully so.

First, the beauty of opinions is that there is no right or wrong. I think Lightning Crashes is one of the best songs of the 90s...lyrically one of the best I've ever heard. But let the people enjoy Heaven if they want to. I don't know when the last time you saw Live is, but I think Heaven seems pretty powerful in concert.

Second, I remember the first time 102.7 played The Dolphin's Cry. They are the radio station that promoted the Atlantic City shows between 2001 and 2004. They ended up playing a TDC, RTTW, and TSUFL a lot, or at least enough for me to hear them on the radio.

Since then, I don't listen to the radio anymore...

I agree with you about opinions. I was just being an asshole. smile.gif

I saw Live twice this summer and twice before that. They played Heaven all four times, and the only time I actually enjoyed it was the most recent show when they performed it during sunset (which was only powerful because of the lyrics). The other 3 times completely sucked, and they could have definitely gone without playing it.

And I also mentioned that I don't listen to the radio anymore. So I'm with you on that one.

I'm not taking a side - just wondering how you can call someone else's opinion wrong simply based on your opinion ???

Torcatofan - no reply needed.

Nick, maybe naming the actual top five from the poll would help to validate or invalidate it as meaningful!

Maybe if you read my last post you would see I was just fucking around. Why don't you start another fucking poll? I'll bet you 90% vote Lightning Crashes over Heaven.

The complete list will be on wplj.com tomorrow. I think it criteria was the top songs on Hot A/C radio for the past 20 years. Heaven may have been a bigger song than Lightning Crashes in the particular format but I have no clue.

Top 3:

RobThomas/Santana- Smooth
Bon Jovi- Living on a Prayer
Lifehouse- Hanging by a Moment
