This was taken from "On The Road" section:

QUOTE(crazy1 @ Aug 24 2007, 8:12 am) *

You guys offer lots of great benefits to your fan club members, more than many other bands. Do you see that paying off?Yeah, we do. And it's something that we've always been into doing because when you subscribe to a fan club, I always look at it old-school. I was a member of the KISS fan club, and you used to get really cool stuff. It's a gesture that says, "You're important to us. You mean something to us." And we're gonna be doing more of that, and we're also going to be making more things available to people who aren't necessarily "Homespun" subscribers, too. I'm not gonna give any more secrets away because there really is something cool coming. We'll keep it like that. Just keep checking.

I'm glad I read this interview because I've been meaning to ask: For those currently in the HOMESPUN fan club, why did you join and continue to renew? Do you think the benefits are truly worth the annual $25 membership? Do you join just to purchase advance tickets and/or to win backstage passes? I haven't been a member since 96 and have thoughts of re-joining. But all I remember is getting a cool red record as the holiday gift and few newsletters. Has that changed? I'm a member of a non-LIVE fan club that costs less and I only join because I know I can get nearly front row seats at each concert ...

So, convince me to join! lol.gif

Hi Lynn,
I just renewed in May. I got to meet the band through a contest. I got the 2006 holiday gift and you get presale tickets which doesn't matter anyway if it's general admission. If your a Homespun member you get 10% off merchandise from the store. Also there is a contest going on where a one Homespun member has a chance to win a meet and greet once a month. I don't know if I'm going to renew in 2008. shrug.gif

Eh, bullshit. They need to check out Black Lab's MP3 of the Month Club, which blows Homespun out of the water. You get a monthly newsletter, a brand new MP3 (or more) each month of usually demos and other exclusive things. If only everybody did that.

I'm interested in seeing what they're going to do, but I don't think it'll stack up to that.

I joined Homespun in 1998 and have a member ever since. The main reason I joined is for the Holiday "gift" that gets mailed out each year (it used to be a vinyl, now it's a CD).
Do I think improvements could be made? Sure - it could be a lot better but Homespun isn't bursting with subscribers so there's a limit to what could be done..
Is it worth $25 per year? Well, if you live in the US and can score close seats for a couple of shows through the FOL pre-sales, then I think it pays for itself.

As J.Sax has stated, there are fan clubs out there that are vastly superior. Nine Inch Nails allow fan club members to enter the venue prior to everybody else while other bands have more direct contact with fans through monthly newsletters and regular updates.

A stupid music video for "Show," a photo slideshow and desktop icons, wallpapers and a screensaver. Nothing good.

I didn't have to renew last year because I won a one year extension through a contest, but I'll have to come November. I probably will just for the novelty of getting the disc...why stop now? I have them all starting in 2001.

I don't have it, but about that video:

A friend of mine who have it, told me when he received it , it was a video for Wings,
the back of the thing itself says: The River, and you say Show.

I've considered joining the Homespun club, not entirely sure though. The 10% off is tempting, though.

The back does say "The River," but it's actually "Show."

I was curious about the 2005 and 2006 Fan Club releases. They are not listed on the Live discography website. What did they end up putting on the 2005 disc?

J-Sax - So the 2006 disc doesn't even have any standard CD audio?

Anyway, I joined the Fan Club this year for the first time, justifying it by getting Radiant Sea for free. Hopefully, they'll have a half-decent fan club holiday release this year...

Does anyone know an approximate number of current Homespun members? I'm curious to know. I can't imagine the number being very high.

I just purchased a two year international homespun membership, as well as a collection of t-shirts. smile.gif
