Looks like Emerson Hart formerly of Tonic will be opening for Live starting September 14th at Dewey Beach until October 7th(minus festival shows).

Emerson is great, I saw him open for Sister Hazel several months back. He is really talented and his live show is really fun and entertaining. I actually liked him a lot better solo than I did when I saw him with Tonic. You guys are lucky that you'll get to see him.

Does he sing all the Tonic hit songs? I would have liked to see him, but he won't be at Hershey.

I don't think he did any Tonic songs. He has his own solo career and did those songs when I saw him. That was an opening gig too so I would assume he would stick to his own solo stuff. I'm sure he is trying to break out of the Tonic mold at this point.

I saw a recent concert of his on youtube and he did perform "If You Could Only See" from his Tonic days. I think even when an artist goes solo, it makes sense to play the old crowd favorites. Without Tonic songs, he isn't much.

Well I don't know maybe he is doing a Tonic song or two for those that don't know who he is. I think he should stick to his own stuff, Tonic isn't around anymore, it seems kind of silly for him to be playing those songs when he has his own thing going. His music is really good in my opinion, he doesn't need Tonic songs to sell himself to me.

I don't see anything wrong with playing songs from his old band. I know Glen Phillips sings a ton of Toad the Wet Sprocket songs at his solo shows, and they're really not together at this point (broke up in the late '90s, though they have been touring on and off and will be on this year's Rock Boat). It's about the only shot you'll get at hearing those songs live.

^ Same thing with Rob Thomas. About half his live show is matchbox twenty material.

I just saw Chris Cornell recently. He did all the Soundgarden and Audioslave hits plus all his new solo material. It was an amazing show!! happy.gif

I need to just give in and go to the Dewey Beach show! rolleyes.gif

Kind of makes one wonder why these guys bother to even go solo. But yeah I guess most people would feel let down if they didn't get to hear some stuff from the singer's old band. I don't think I've ever seen any other performers that went solo besides Emerson but I was more interested in hearing his stuff than Tonic stuff.

So, is this true? No Collective Soul at the FL shows? Why I ask - Friends of Live site as well as Ticketmaster site both still state Live and Collective Soul. I'm getting tickets through the promoter so won't have an actual ticket in hand until day of show.

Honestly, don't matter to me, but was curious. I liked Tonic back in the day so would be nice to see him perform (saw CS in Indy and was unimpressed) ...

For the Clearwater FL show - the promoter said Emerson Hart is not performing. It's Ingram Hill (whoever that is), Collective Soul and LIVE. FYI ...

I just found out the Emereson Hart is playing n New Orleans. I checked out his myspace and the music was very mellow. I did like Tonic but I'm wary of this new sound.
