See in my opinion they should cater to the more mature fans instead of the lowest common demoninator. The fans that have stuck by them all of this time, turned their friends onto them, traveled to show after show. I think they are actually doing a better job of that lately with the addition of some more obscure songs to the setlist but they should have been doing that a long time ago. I realize a band isn't always able to pull off an emotional, raw show every single night but I'm not sure Live is capable of that at all anymore, ever. For me it is not about having the perfect oppurtunity to take a picture, it's about having my mind so blown that I can't even remember I brought a camera much less taking my concentration away from the show long enough to focus on taking a picture. Live shows used to do that to me and now they don't. Like I said before, maybe it's just me but I keep hanging around in the hopes that one day when I see them I'll get that feeling back again. Perhaps the reason that I don't get that feeling anymore is my fault and not theirs at all. Who knows?

I don't think it's your fault at all.

Although I disagree with the shirt thing somewhat, I think this band needs to wake the fuck up and realize that people aren't digging them anymore.

They've fallen a long god damn way in the past few years and it seems that word of mouth has gotten around on that point. I agree that they need to challenge themselves and get back to playing some hard driving, creative music.

I agree with the idiots here more than they think. I want to see more of the old LIVE, with performances ala the SNL Lakini's Juice mind blowing dig. That shit was fucking bomb plain and simple. Ed singing to the crowd and looking like he's having a god damn seizure. Black eye makeup and black silk shirt half torn open.

But he belted to the crowd. He LOOKED at them with PASSION and sang. NOW? He stands up there most of the time and stares right through the audience as if he don't give a fuck about them. My take on that is that we as fans, are coming out not only to see you perform, but WE are your livlihood. WE are the ones who have loved you and stood by you through all these changes and WE are still here. Still buying your merchandise and paying to see you GIVE A FUCK when you put it to us in concert. All of us fans are the reason these guys live as well as they do and to be brutallly honest, they'd be piss all without us hardcore fans to support them. They make their living off touring and if we didn't show up well.....

My point is that I give it 100 percent at my job EVERY friggin day. My company pays me well to do a job and I'm gonna thank them for that and show my appreciation by servicing their members well. When the day comes that I'm not willing to do that, I might as well just hang it the fuck up and call it quits. For not only will i be cheating my employer, but I will not be being true to myself.

I think the exact same fucking thing applies here. I think this band is just about done when the fans they have left, are about to say fuck it. Millions have deserted them already and the ones that have remained are loyal. When those are lost, they are done.

Hehehe, well I told you where I reside so if you are ever in the mood to have me talk some to your face....come on over!

I'll admit it is kinda funny though, but I am the rare case that is a shit talker period. I'm worse than Phil Helmuth at a card table and more abrasive in person than anybody you've ever met. Fuck, just the other day my boss asked me if I had a problem with him and I told him straight up that I simply don't like him and that I'm not there to be his friend. I'm a fucking asshole all around when it comes to telling people what i think. But at the very least, I'm downright honest.

Maybe the guys lurk here and will hear your concerns. Frankly, I miss the rockin.gif LIVE too, but as long as they play some oldies as the concerts, I'm all good as far as that goes. I'm not the angst-ridden person I was in the 90s, either. People change.

But, I have to defend Ed. I know he gave himself last night. He smiled, he looked us fans in the eyes, he enjoyed himself, and he belted those songs clearly and in tune. The situation is not that bleak yet.

As usual - I agree with Heather. I also want that feeling back where I can't remember I even HAVE a camera! I actually once did smuggle a camera in, down the front of my pants that were too tight, and FORGOT it was even there when all was said and done and the music started. I just don't get that anymore.

I also agree with LiveRocks77 - what drew me in was that crazed, almost seizure like energy Ed had ... it was like nothing I'd ever seen , nor have since. And I miss it a lot. sad.gif

Yeah, I know people change....trust me, I of all people know this first hand.

But I look at it this way. When Ed is old and done with his performing days, days of writing music, I wonder what he'll look back and think of what he became after the turn of the 90's. Fact is, LIVE befuddled many by not being just a one hit wonder. They captivated a huge audience of people with some amazing writing and music.

Hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people are now laughing at what they've become. The same people who once loved a band that had all the potential in the world. People who felt LIVE'S music in a real sense and people who related to it on a deeply personal level. People who feel that these guys have so much more to say, so much more to offer musically.

I can see that the underlying message is still there in the music. But it's become lazy and uninspiring as has the music being put to it. I'm not a fan of any musician criticizing the shit music out there today and then making music that fits right into the criteria he is belittling,

Fact is, the masses hate these last 3 albums, HATE them. So if LIVE continues to want music to be their livelihood, something has to give. Crowds are dwindling and so are record sales. Pretty soon, there is going to be nothing left.

I personally think this band needs a long hiatus of maybe 3 or 4 years. Take some personal time and then get back together and put their heads together for some real LIVE music. Continuing on with the way they are going is just embarassing. It's been 9 years since this band has released anything worth listening to really. NINE years. Nine years of subpar music by their standards.

All you diehards can argue all you want about BOP and SFBM being good. Fact is that for every one of you who says it is, there are 20 THOUSAND people who think it's a pile of garbage. You are in a severe minority. They have sold barely 500,00 records in NINE years, a span of 3 cd's. That is sad. Not only can the band not continue to put out music like this, they need to take a long hard look at why a vast majority of people think it sucks ass. They need to take a good hard listen to their first four records and compare them to the next three.

Then they need to ask themselves if they wanna go out like that. Because they are on their way out........

Don't be surprised if you're looking for a new job in the next 4-6 weeks then. It's probably reason why you don't earn more than 30k a year... in CANADIAN CURRENCY LOL

Hmm... points to ponder I suppose. But something tells me that they don't care what the masses think. Perhaps they only want fans who have evolved with them or relate to the simpler, more comtemplative SFBM LIVE. I wish we knew what they really thought of that album.

As for their popularity? I'm not delusional. I know everyone I know thinks I'm nuts for loving LIVE. SFBM is really the only album they've put out that I can't listen to over and over again. I do worry with you that their popularity will dwindle to the point that they won't tour anymore. I agree that I think they have a lot left in them and I hope that whatever muse has kept them together this long doesn't become silent and uninspiring, leading way to a slow painful death. But on the other hand, maybe they don't want the rockstar lifestyle anymore and are taking it down a notch for family and real life. But if they want to keep making money in the US, I agree that something has to change because they don't seem ready for that.

Doesn't Ed still think he's the world's key to enlightenment? As long as he does, they'll be making music, regardless of record sales. nod.gif Also, you have to remember that LIVE isn't popular at all in the US compared to overseas. Hasn't Ed said that the center of the LIVE universe is in Holland? How were SFBM sales there and elsewhere? Is that 500K number worldwide? If not, I wouldn't get my hopes up about too much of a change from the status quo.
If so... well, er... I don't want to think about it. Apparently it's still enough to support them for now...

Liverocks: please don't ever private message me again. I don't take the time to read your senseless diatribes let alone need you to stuff my mailbox full of garbage.

LiveRocks77:

HAHAHA, typical idiot.

Our CANADIAN CURRENCY is worth precisely the same as the american dollar. The exchange is actually $1.02 if you want to be exact. The big bad american buck isn't as mighty as it used to be is it?

And FYI little boy, I make 30 k a year working part time. Which allows me to stay at home and care for my children. Something your stupid ass knows nothing about because you couldn't get laid by a hooker with HIV. See, we're not like you up here thank god. Our lives don't revolve around the good old dollar. It's why the entire planet hates you people really. Most of you are greedy, self righteous morons who think you know everything. You put money in front of the well being of your own families and that's as low as you can get.

So before you talk about my income or our currency, go back to your sad, pathetic life. Go back to your faltering and pathetic economy with no health care. Go back and listen to some more garbage from your C average president. Truth is, I'd mpretty much rather live anywhere on earth but America. Between all the murderers, rapists, pedophiles and other forms of low life scum, there isn't much left of you. I'd put my money on you being a pedophile. Especially since you're posting on a message board pretending to be a girl.

So don't be surprised when the cops show up at your door arresting you for attempting to lure young girls to your trailer.

Well pedo man, I might as well give you something to read while the neighborhood bikers drill your mom. strawberry.gif

Thought I'd be your entertainment since welfare doesn't afford you the opportunity for any. You can thank me after John number 26 gets off your fat, greasy ditch pig mom....
