What is going on here?

Ed isn't the same young guy who was part of a band that produced riveting music. He should STOP taking his shirt off during concerts because not only is it ridiculous but it is overwhelmingly lame.

And seriously LiveRocks, you're extreme homophobia and constant talk of bending guy's over CRIES homosexual. You are gay right?

You missed my point. You guys in your 30's (let's hear an exact age, please) who have to change your panties after seeing Ed without a shirt, to young people look the same way the 60 year olds worshipping Mick Jagger's skin and bones look to you. To young people, Ed looks like a fool who is about as uncool as you can get.
Is this seriously what Live fans have become? Oh, it's OK that Ed does it because some other jackleg performer does it to turn on pre-teen girls. Awesome. Do you consider yourself a man or at least a non-sex offender? This is the biggest reason why Ed's antics are not OK...they attract fans like you.

What? Whatever! Age doesn't matter, when I saw them in my twenties and Ed was taking off his shirt then I'd still like it!!! If ya think he's so uncool don't go to the concerts buddy! JEEZ! He gets all hot and sweaty and he wants to take off his freakin' shirt let him take of his freakin' shirt!!! I've said it before and not saying it again, what is the big freakin' deal!!! bomb.gif

Ed might have been reading this site from his hotel room because towards the begining of the show he asked if it was "Hot enough, should I take my shirt off, that's not illegal here is it? He didn't take it off during LC, which was good cause the people were into that song. He took it off between LC and LJ.

That's all for now, I can post more details about the show later. I'm off to Photoshop a ticket that will get me into the field tomorrow.

Interesting topic, for sure.

I am torn here....I am a 34 year old female and I have been attracted to Ed since pretty much day 1. BUT - I do think the shirt thing is getting old...but that may also be because after he started waxing his chest, it made me throw up a little in my mouth. tongue.gif

Interesting to me that this topic couldn't be discussed without slinging insults and accusations of homosexuality...

I'm 44. I've been a LiVE fan since the very very very beginning. It's the MUSIC/LYRICS that drew me and keep me...

According to the one poster, if I say I like seeing Ed with his shirt off, it's because I'm ancient and uncool.

Maybe that's partly true, because I think some of the posts in this thread are not only asinine but also extremely immature.

Anyway, back to the topic...

I prefer Ed's more spontaneous and emotionally intense performances rather than the planned posing/fondling/stripping.

I think he's always been sexy, but to me that's more about his passion than his body.

If, in the middle of a song, he was moved by the music to disrobe or act upon sexual impulses, I'd cheer along with the "teenies".

However, since that's not the case, recently...

It doesn't bother me that he's fallen back on repeating certain actions/gestures during the same moments, other than to make me wonder if he still feels the magic of the music.

Nothing would be sadder to me than to find out he's just robotically going through the motions.

My two cents.

I never said I was personally ok with it, I just said I don't give two fucks what he does. Ed is Ed and he can do what he wants on stage whether you like it or not.

It has nothing to do with his taking his shirt off. It has to do with his whole gay pop stage persona. LIVE used to be a ballsy band that would put on an energetic show and leave the frills to other bands. Now, Ed is up there fondling himself during AOY, stripping and strutting around like a bitch, sticking his hands down his pants during Show, etc. The shirt is just a part of it all. And Heather is right, he does it at the exact same point in every show, so it's obviously a planned act. That's not what LIVE used to be. I'd sure love to go back in time and tell a 20 year old Ed that in 15 years he'd be planning when and how to take his shirt off, how to fondle himself and stick his hands down his pants during their shows....he'd probably kill himself right then and there.

Also, a big what up to Patrick W BURG, who had the balls to actually register just to post this. A huge thumbsup.gif from me and welcome to the board!

sounds like your jealous cause ED is the man and gets alot of -----!

he's in good shape for 36...probably better then you!

who cares if some DUDE doesnt like it????
as long as the ladies enjoy....thats all that matters...
if I where you I stay home and
watch DVD's of PRINCE ifyou think he can pull it off...cause he is about as GAY as it gets! rockin.gif

WHY YESSSSSSS!!!!! You got me!!!!!!!! kicking.gif

But can you tell me where I've exhibited any form of homophobia idiot? Because I haven't, which makes your statement inane and proves your first addition of your two cents in this thread to be useless. Back to Beverly Hills with you and your day consisting of walking down the street wearing your various 1980's Michael Jackson outfits. omg.gif

But again, so what if I were to be gay? So what if anybody is? I certainly have nothing against gay people.....male or female. The homophobia that seems to exist comes from you douche bags, scurrying around on a message board and crying about Ed taking his shirt off. Then taking the time to accuse me of being gay in a context that pokes fun at homosexuality......Shows off the extent of your intelligence really doesn't it? I think it does. I also think that a few of you losers have proven my point.

Bottom line is if you don't like the shirt removal? Fuck yourself and stay home instead of coming to a message board and complaining like whiny little bitches in the fifth grade. Go and watch who you presume to be real men at some other concert somewhere else.

And SINFUL EYES. You should really think about how dumb you sound before coming on here calling somebody gay, whilst you pretend to be female. NOW THAT'S FUNNY! I know exactly who you are now you cowardly little piece of shit. Finally found a way to get back in huh? Hiding behind the guise of being female, how sad and pathetic. Your life really must consist of constant boredom and whack off sessions.

Like I said, when either you or Ex have the balls to show your faces, let me know. I know for fact you don't....but there's always the chance that you'll get tired of being a coward who does nothing but shout off HIS gate and run.

I'm not gonna get into the whole who here is gay and who isn't .. but back to the original topic.

Like some people have touched on, it's not so much Ed taking his shirt off that annoys me, it's the "same spot each night" and doing the same thing each show at the same point which sucks .. it's a "show", it's not spontaneous anymore. For instance, when I first got the new Rammstein DVD I was obviously thrilled with it, fantastic DVD .. but more to the point the song "Ohne Dich" comes on which is a nice slow ballad, in the extended instrumental opening the singer Till walks over to Flake the keyboardist whom in their performances is generally his bitch and is on the wrong end of many beatings .. but he walked up to him and leaned his head on Flake's shoulder and it just felt like such a touching moment where the performance ended and you could see the real friendship in the band.

Not to say they aren't friends of course .. I mean they'd have to be, but then when the main DVD feature finished I watched the selected clips from other concerts which included another performance of Ohne Dich, and sure enough at the exact same point in the song Till walked over to Flake again to embrace him, it just seemed to take away the emotion of the original one I saw and any subsequencial(sp?) viewings.

Ed is in real danger of this ..

I have to agree here.

I don't mind to see a nice male body, although I think it's more stimulating to just get a glimpse of it... It's totally okay with me if an artist gets a bit aroused on stage and shows it but it all has to happen spontaneously. A well calculated behaviour on stage is turning me off.

Well said. I would also be very very sad to find that the band didn't get joy out of their music anymore, but I can't believe that is the case. It would make the whole enterprise a lot less valuable IMO. I don't think that is the case, though.

I've never been in a band, but I used to be a dancer and I played in marching band and orchestra. I know from experience that having a routine and a set pattern for performance doesn't necessarily take away from the magic of the music or the emotion behind the moment in dance. Ed often looks sincere to me, and if he's not, then he is really good at faking sincerity. I'm sure it's not completely sincere every show, but I think he puts in a decent effort. smile.gif
