With one week to go to the release date, is anyone planning on attending the midnight showing? I've been a Simpson fan since I was ten years old and can not wait to see the film. Anyone else a closet Simpson freak?

so long as it resembles the first 8 or 9 seasons then i will be a happy man. Whereas homer simpson used to be a caring, loving family man who did stupid things as a result, he has lately become an annoying, sadistic goof who screams and bangs his head a lot. The whole series has gone to shit.

But apparently original creator mat groening has stated that it will be more of what we saw in the early days. Plus the old writers are back, so im very enthusiastic.

Yeah, I watched the interview of Matt Groening on The Daily Show and he did say it would be like the old ones. They said the movie has been in production since 2003 or 2001 I can't remember... but the show used to be good back then.

I won't go to the midnight showing but I will pay full price to see it which is rare for me to do. I was raised on the Simpsons back from 1991 when it came on channel 2 hehe.gif

What is everybody's favourite episode? Mine is the one where The family moves to California so Homer can pursue a career working for another power plant.

Fav quote:

Slave Driver: No listening! You hear me??

Fearful Homer: No...

Slave Driver: You just don't learn do ya...

That one was just on today. I like so many it is very hard to pick a favorite. I need to buy the DVD of season 8 because it has the episode when The Simpsons visit NYC. It hasn't been aired in my area since 9/11 and I feel it is one the best episodes that they ever produced.

HOMER: "What do you have to drink?"

TURKISH VENDOR: "Mountain Dew and crab juice"

HOMER: "Blecch! Ew! Sheesh! I'll take a crab juice"

I haven't watched the show for years, but I'm definately interested in checking out the movie.

really disappointing ... but i dunno what i expected, i mean it wasnt a bad movie there were definetly stuff that got me laughing, but it just seemed like one big long episode .. sort of anti climactic that after 18yrs it was just so .. uneventful.

Also in retrospect it sucked because not many characters outside of the family got to shine, but with time restraints it's impossible anyways, I just don't think the transition to movie worked well.

I actually really enjoyed the movie. The first 30 minutes were as funny as anything I've seen in a while. In truth, it is really just a long episode, but its' a solid 87 minutes of entertainment. I'd say its easily the funniest film of 2007.

no it wasnt laugh out loud like i expected or hoped but i found myself warming to this movie (like i used to in the old episodes) and it was a great throwback to the core family values which enriched those early days. I found myself smiling more than laughing, which is a big achievement for any movie.

oh and you get to see barts doodle
