QUOTE(LiveRoCkS77 @ Jul 7 2007, 7:02 pm) *

That's a lame excuse if I ever heard one. sarcasm.gif

The crowd was completely still and silent for CS for the first half of their set. Yet by the end Ed Roland had everybody going absolutely nuts. The applause wasn't even applause, it was a roar.

That's what a good frontman does, takes a still crowd and makes them kick it up and rock out to the band. He took the crowd from zero to a nine and a half on the richter scale. He had the crowd singing halg of RUN, and they were singing so loud, it was amazing. I was in awe that this guy took a crowd from not even moving, to fist pumping and singing an entire song for him.

The cheers that CS got at the end were a thousand times louder than what LIVE got at the end of their show. When Ed Roland mentioned LIVE and said thanks to them, the crowd roared louder for them than they did at the end of Lightning Crashes. A hundred times louder. And at the time Mr Roland mentioned LIVE, it was fairly early and he hadn't gotten the crowd going yet. Most of the crowd was there for LIVE, they have a fairly large following here. Yet none of us responded to LIVE the way we did for CS, and sadly enough, that includes me.

By the end of CS, I wanted more. But when LIVE were done? I was actually kinda glad. I mean no disrespect at all when I say this, but I was kinda embarassed for them. Ed never even attemted an interaction with the crowd and that's just not ED. Last time he was here, he had the crowd going fucking bananas. He jumped out into the aisle and sang and danced. He was up on Gracey's drum wall, going nuts with Taylor and even invited all the girls to come up and sing along to sophia and dance with him. He had the crowd singing along loudly 5 or six times, he talked to us a whole buch....etc

Thursday? NOTHING.....and the crowds reaction said it all.

Yes I'm sure that Ed Roland mentioning Live got 100 times the reaction of Lightning Crashes. As for Collective Soul getting 1000 times louder a cheer than Live, I bet that's true too. I'm also releasing my first album solo album at the end of the year, you should be hearing the single on radio soon.

When I saw Collective Soul in NYC, the crowd were still like zombies through the majority of the set. They applauded at the end of each song and did sing along a, but the band's music didn't inspire the movement of the audience that Live did. I've heard from others who attended the Toronto show that the moshing was greater during Live's set, and the reaction that the band got was excellent.

Did Collective Soul get a louder roar? I have no clue, but then again who cares. Live may have had an off night like you said, but someone else who attended said they had a good night. All a matter of perception.

Nick you are truly a Live fanboy. I've been roaming these forums for a while now and no matter what people say you defend them.

I have to agree with LiveRocks about this show. I was at this show as well and not only did Live have an "off" night but they sounded fairly abysmal.

I hope my post doesn't get deleted for being honest?

Honestly though Nick, unless you want the exodus of Live fans from the forums to continue, I advise you to stop deleted posts just because they are critical of the band. You don't want to be considered the "other" Jimmy Lang, do you?

Obviously you care, or you wouldn't still be defending LIVE.

I was third row center in front of the stage buddy, if there were 1 person moshing? I'd have seen it. I'm not arguing this point with you any further. You'll just run off like a little girl and say "oh look! I found somebody who said LIVE got a bigger cheer!"

My god, heather is right!!! You just can't accept that Live got outclassed performance wise at a concert can you? You think I don't know that LIVE doesn't put on a better show? I'm saying that this night, they didn't come close...PERIOD. I'm not deaf and nor are the six friends we went down with. They all agreed that CS was not only better, but that the crowd was WAYYYYYYY louder for CS. We were all surprised and we are all fans of LIVE.

CS'S show rocked and LIVE'S didn't, it's not the end of the world. I'm sure that in the future, it will be the other way around.

And just a pointer for you Nick. Since you've taken over this site? It has died. I can't count on both hands and feet the number of users you've driven off since I've been back. Your obsession and extremism is suffocating other people. So relax if you want a site that people will enjoy.

See? A post without swearing!!! What excuse you have to delete this one nicky? Did I bash LIVE by simply saying they were outperformed? I don't think so. I love LIVE and always will. it's not their once in a while subpar performances driving us away, it's the obsessive, self righteous winners who are ruing their fan boards.

Gotta agree with you here LiveRocks.

I didn't really know the last moderator but I know for sure he ran the board much differently.

Loosen up Nick smile.gif

Without Greg and I taking over this site, fansoflive.com would have been long dead. Record numbers from the last year came to the message board last week, so the site is still pretty active contrary to what you said. Am I as good a moderator as Dan was, no way! I let my opinion fly at will and am very passionate in my love for the band. Dan was much more even keel than I could ever wish to be. However, I'm a devoted enough fan to put time and effort into running this message board.

I know better than to think I can make everyone happy. As a high school teacher, if I tried to make all of my students like me all the time, I'd be eaten alive. Same applies here. I don't agree with a lot of the negativity towards Live and I'll fight for them.

No one has to stay, but I'm not inviting anyone to leave either. Greg and I agreed to run this site till 2008, what becomes of this place then, I guess we shall see.

Review from Solene on SOY of Toronto Show:

It was an amazing show... even the first part was great with collective soul.. (didn't know them much)

I really liked that place... even if a outdoor show is always the best!

I was on the first row... but closed to the washrooms... (at the left side of the stage)...

It was my 8th show... I really like them... they are so energic! but there was one song I didn't recognize at all...i saw on the SOY board that it was a cover...

But it wasn't long enough... I could stay there all night just to hear them sing...!

Ed sang all the throwing copper greatest hits... I Alone, Selling the drama, Lightning crashes, The dam at other creek, Shit Towne, Mirror song, etc. They also sang a song they said it was the first time they singed it in concert.. I can't remember the title... (I,m a bit in a rush) but it was on SFBM..

LIVE began at almost 10 pm... and I got out at 12h15... ohmy.gif) We had an encore...

I hope this is good for you!
