I was thinking of getting tickets to Live Earth. Is anyone going to the show? I was wondering if it would be worth going.

I wouldn't go on prinicpal. A load of backslapping musical luvvies 'doing their bit' for global warming by participating in a huge energy guzzling spectacular. The concerts are going to have a neutral carbon footprint my ass! Are all the megastar acts performing going to fly there on their private jets powered by their own self-generated hot air emanating from their pompous mouths? Are all the people driving hundreds of miles to get there and making a journey they wouldn't normally, going to walk or use alternative fuels? Are the vending stands selling chips and hotdogs going to use recyclable paper containers instead of styrene containers that are manufactured from petrochemicals pumping greenhouse gasses into the environment? Are they fuck! All I can say is irony just died.

It's nothing to do with stopping global warming or raising awareness, but everything about easing consciences, blatant consumerism, making the artists even more rich and the audience feel smug and self-satisfied that they are doing something to save the planet. This furore about global warming is all horseshit anyway. It's a huge cartel with scientists who's research contradicts the opinion of the powers that be being treated like medieval heretics and not being able to get any funding - how is that a balanced and scientific way to prove any theory? It's just another way for politicians to line their pockets anyway - carbon trading anyone? I'm not saying it's not happening necessarily, but global warming is now a multi million dollar business. You'll realize that when you're being flogged Live Earth merchandise.

Okay, I'm done. *gets off soapbox and takes a deep breath*

Do you know how many songs they'll be playing? Are they closing the show?

No I wish I knew the answer to those questions myself since Jovi rules over Giants Stadium. I would think The Police would close the show.

My girlfriend loves Bon Jovi and Dave Matthews, I'd love if they played back to back and we could get the heck out of there.

In NJ, I'd hope Bon Jovi would close over The Police, but I think you may be right.

Is anyone watching?
Some notes:

John Mayer was so stoned that he tried to kiss the male interviewer after his set.

Melissa Ethridge is out of her mind! She rambled through one long protest/preachy song for what seemed like 20 minutes. It was such a joke.

Waiting for DMB and Bon Jovi later tonight.

6 hours in the sun - you must be insane. I saw it all on TV... well, I saw about 10 minutes of it.

I agree. I watched the whole concert on TV, well up to the Smashing Pumpkins and Bon Jovi were by far the best act. They weren't preachy and just put on a good show. Richie Sambora is particuarly a good performer, I was really impressed with him.

Kelly Clarkson also had a good set. They have enough back-up musicians to make her show enjoyable. How was getting in and out of Giants Stadium yesterday?

I watched a good bit of it. I thought Bon Jovi was good and Dave Matthews too but I'm biased when it comes to him. I also thought John Mayer was good even though I don't really like his music much. He is a really good guitarist though. Kelly Clarkson sounded good as well even though I'm also not a fan of hers, she does have a great voice.

I though I might actually vomit when Madonna was playing a guitar while singing. What the hell? Has anything ever looked more out of place than that?

The one Linken Park song that I saw was pitiful. I really detest them.

Heather what did you think of Melissa Ethridges 20 minute war-protest song? I was hoping Dave Matthews would play Crush and Ants Marching, but they only were able to play three songs.

How were the Police?

I actually have a lot of respect for Melissa for being one of the few artists out there that will still speak their mind without worrying about how it will affect their record sales.
