I typed out my list but it got a bit out of hand, so I'll try a different angle:

What I can't listen to:
I can't abide is modern R&B. I've yet to find one redeeming artist unless you can count the odd Justin Timberlake song that I half like.
I'm not too fond of club/dance music which always sounds like a car alarm going off with some random girl singing over the top of it.
Rap isn't my bag either unless it's the odd song by Public Enemy, Run DMC or Cypress Hill.
Disco - bleurgh! Nauseating.

What I kinda like in the right context:
Jazz, though freeform and scat is too much for me to comprehend.
Classical though I veer towards Medieval rather than the Romantic.
Opera - oh, the overblown melodrama!
Pop. Oh, come on, who doesn't like the odd pop song? Mika's Love Today is hilarious, Shakira kicks ass and The Backstreet Boys are fabulously good for a laugh.
Country. I like bluegrass and the insane Alt-Country greatness that is Sixteen Horsepower.
Funk - Grandmaster Flash?
Folk - gotta love people with something to say!

What I absolute ADORE:
Mainly rock and it's many subgenres from Rock N Roll, Alternative, Goth, Punk, New Wave, Metal etc... You can't really neatly pigeon hole artists as the Folk and Country I like very often crosses over into rock territory. Even singer songwriters like Jeff Buckley who had extremely diverse influences can very much fall in the rock genre in many ways. And yes, even Roy Orbison who I absolutely love falls under Rock N Roll far more than anything else.

Okay, so we'll start with - Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, The Doors, Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC.

Moving on to the 70s/80s - Blondie, The Clash, The Stranglers, The Cult, The Cure, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Gary Numan, Stiff Little Fingers, Pre Joshua Tree U2, Simple Minds,
Buzzcocks, The Mission, Sisters Of Mercy, Hanoi Rocks, The Smiths, Psychedelic Furs, A-Ha
Big Country, Killing Joke, The Skids, Depeche Mode, Crass, Crowded House, Seal.

Sort of 90s to now:
Manic Street Preachers, Jeff Buckley, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, AFI, pre-With Teeth NIN, HIM, Sixteen Horsepower (best country band ever!), Ours, Septembre, InMe, Live, VAST, Vex Red and Dave McPherson.

Shedloads I've forgotten, but these are the ones I either listen to rabidly now or have very fond memories of.

67 Special
The Exploders
Expatriate
Bit By Bats
Wolf & Cub
Dukes Of Windsor
Something With Numbers
INXS (mkI & II)
The Vasco Era
My Chemical Romance
The Battery Kids
Faker
The Lazys
The Grates
The Presets
We Are Scientists
Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!
Red Riders

...there is PLENTY more. Trust me.

And, someone I think that a fair few of you would like..
Nicholas Roy
He is a very very talented young man. Really incredible. Kind of sounds a bit Gavin DeGraw-ish (I'm not a fan of Gavin Degraw, but it's kind of the style of music Nick plays..)
If you get a chance to check him, or any of the bands I've listed, out, I urge you to do so smile.gif
