Second, I know some of you like it, but The River is simply straight up balls.

You are totally entitled to your opinion just like me. The River is a good song.

But wouldn't it be better to see one show with a really amazing setlist than to see ten shows that are exactly the same? Seriously, don't you people get bored with seeing the same show over and over again? I know I did that's why I haven't been to a show in over a year. I am planning on seeing them again soon but I doubt I'll be impressed with the setlist. It would seem to me that if they catered to the hardcore fans from the get go they would still have a really strong fanbase and they would still be able to sell a ton of tickets based on the fact that they do mix up their setlists. At this point I think it's way too late for that to happen. So I guess we're stuck with the hits setlist.

Heather,

Did you to complain about not hearing Iris or Rattlesnake in concert? Now they usually play both. When was the last time you saw a Live show anyway? Not sound harsh, just curious.

Nope.

I can sit here and say tha Avril Lavigne is good. A whole boatload of you will jump in and tell me how badly her music blows. Which it does.

The point is, some things are just fact. The River is crap, comparable to Britney spears and Avril Lavigne type music. It's utterly stupendous how people like Nick go on about how bad Nickelback and Lavigne are, but turn around and say "The River is a great song!" A complete oxymoron and biased bullcrap to the tits.

I don't remember the date of the last Live show I saw. I know it was in Baltimore and it was well over a year ago. The reason I was unhappy with the setlist at that show was because they had just done a tour of Australia where they played a lot of songs that I never get a chance to hear live, like Walk the Line (which I know is now back in the set) and We Deal In Dreams (which is a favorite of mine that I would have LOVED to have heard live). I am happy about Iris being back in the setlist since that is also a favorite of mine. Rattlesnake is a nice addition too but considering the number of times I've seen the band, adding three or four different songs over the course of two years really doesn't impress me much. It's still the same basic setlist that it always has been. I actually almost totally gave up on the band after the Strand show in York. I was so pissed that that "special" show was the exact same show I had seen almost twenty times already. I did go to several shows after that one though before I finally decided it wasn't worth my money and that the shows were just starting to bore me. I paid $50 for that ticket to that Baltimore show and decided my money would be better spent elsewhere in the future.

All of that being said, I am giving them another chance which I never even thought I would ever do. I guess we'll see how it goes.

You can blow B.S. out your ass all day. Fact REALLY is The River is a good song. Not one thing that you or anyone else here can say will change my mind. Music is an art and what is good is in the eye of the beholder.

In fact ... I'm going to listen to it right now, and enjoy it!!!! music.gif

FACT? lol.gif

FACT?????

So that makes all Britney Spears music good, because all her fans say it is? That make it fact that her music is good? omg.gif No, it makes it fact that most of her fans have no taste in music.

To me, you using the word "FACT" not only means your taste sucks, but that you're the epitomy of what is wrong with society today. Blind little followers with not enough IQ to think for themselves, ironically, just like Britney spears fans!! Or at least those of them who think it's FACT that her music is actually good.

So this is my last post with you, you're not worth the argument.

At least Eamon is intelligent and can offer some food for thought. You are just plain pathetic.

I think your being a bit too critical on the band. I know that Collective Soul barely mixes up their setlist and NEVER plays more than a two song encore and they are one of your concert favs.. Live has recently added up to an 8 song encore and they have mixed up their setlist more than they ever did before. When you were a huge fan of Live, I know they played the same set everynight and rarely played a show over 90 minutes. That is just no longer the case.

2 years ago if you mentioned that Live would be playing the sets they were playing now, everyone would be happy as heck. Now people seem to be complaining just for the sake of doing so. Live isn't perfect, but they've worked hard at improving their stage show. They deserve credit for that.

It's true. Live have never been ones to mix it up all that much... new record, new set. Minor changes here and there but that's it.

nick...seriously...why is it that you always single out heather when it comes to discussions about Live. you always have to try and prove why Live is better than Collective Soul in your posts. heather didn't even mention them in the post you quoted but again you had to bring them up. they are one of her favorite bands...accept it and move on with your life. i know heather and i know that you're not going to change her mind just by saying the same thing over and over about Live changing their setlist and playing a longer encore and blah blah blah.

also, you didn't bother quoting the part where she said she's giving Live another chance, which makes it seem like she's just being negative about the whole issue. if you want to "argue" with people who are not into Live as much as they used to be or who may say negative things about the band, there are plenty of other people on this board to choose from.

i know that has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, but i just had to say that.

Jesus. Just got caught up on this thread, and lots of opinions flying around. At the end of the day, I'm down with Pokey's comments on this. This thread should be required reading for the band and their management.

The River IS terrible by the way. Awful.

I didn't single out Heather. I responded to Liverocks and Hoodstock in this thread. Complaining about Live's current set isn't fair especially since you loved the band's shows back when they kept the set the same everynight and rarely exceeded 90 minutes of stagetime.

I used Collective Soul because I know Heather is a fan and saw them multiple times recently when they kept the set exactly the same and played short encores. Its a double-standard. Its cool she's giving Live a second chance, but that is more due to them playing with Collective Soul than anything else.

Well, I'm certainly not biased because I don't particularly like Nick nor Heather.

But I do have to agree with Nick here.

Collective Soul plays basically the SAME setlist every single time. They change it up much MUCH less than LIVE does. Heather seems to be "pissed" by her own admission that LIVE never does this, so why the endearment and righteous defense then of Collective Soul?

What I don't understand is why anybody would "give up on a band" simply because their setlist rarely changes. Given up on Collective Soul yet? Because like I said, they are just as, if not more guilty of this.

Personally, I don't like the fact that the setlist doesn't get mixed up much. But give up on them for it? LMAO! Get serious. I go to their shows to enjoy seeing them perform and because their music means a lot to me, and always has, always will. Don't like their shows or a littled bored? That's cool, stay away for a bit. But to say you're giving up on them for that? That's just retarded and pathetic, sorry.

I also agree with Nick that LIVE has injected quite a few songs over the past few years. Maybe not as many as people would like but hey, I think he hit it right on....people just bitching in order to well, bitch.

I have seen setlists with PLOTR, The Beauty of Gray, Mirror song, Iris, Shit Town, Voodoo Lady, Rattlesnake, Like I do, Simple Creed, I Walk The Line.......all songs that have been added in and out over the past 18 months or so.

Sorry if every time you seem to see them, the setlist seems to be the same. But fact is, it's not. There are lots of songs they've played elsewhere and when they come here right afterwards they don't. Like I do was their opener for quite a bit and as soon as they came here? They didn't use it. I was disappointed but ready to give up on them. That's beyond ridiculous.

This whole Live vs. CS thing is getting really, really old. The fact is in the 23 times that I have seen CS over the past three years I have seen many changes in their setlist and have been fortunate enough to get see a large variety of different songs. I could care less how long their encore is and I am hardly going to post a setlist for every show that I've seen of theirs just to prove that they did in fact used to vary their setlists quite a bit. Their current show isn't as varied and I'm assuming that is because they are the opening act and they will be changing up their setlist soon anyway with a new cd coming out. I don't think I have been "righteously defending" CS at all, just trying to have people give them a chance because I think they're a good band. I am just as critical of them as I am with Live. Besides, I'm not the one comparing them to Live every five minutes. In fact I have been talking up Live all over the CS board since this tour was announced trying to convince CS fans of what a great live band they are and how they should all give them a chance. I have also tried to be nice and objective and helpful with the info that I have come up with over the past couple of months regarding tour info, etc. I still think it's a shame that people can't just enjoy these shows without ragging on each other's bands. I actually haven't even seen CS in over a year. And anyway Nick, if you want to insult my favorite artist, pick on Ryan Adams, he outranks CS for me these days and I think you'll be hard pressed to find any thing wrong with his setlists considering he plays a completely different one every night.

As for my giving up on Live because I was bored with their show. I really don't see what is wrong with that. Why should I keep shelling out the money to see a band that I have become bored with? Why is it so hard to believe that you can become bored with them to the point of wanting to take a break from their shows? It's not just the setlist either, it's the fact that the last show I saw was just uninspired and lame, in my opinion. I know other people who were even bigger fans than me that quit going to shows long before I did. For some reason after having seen CS only three less times than I have seen Live in half the amount of time I am still not bored with them. If I do become bored with them I'll stop going to see their shows as well. I guess I just don't see the reason to keep seeing a band when I'm just not that into them anymore. I don't quite understand how that makes me pathetic, but whatever.

And Nick, for your information my going to see Live again has little to do with the fact that CS is playing with them. I would have been at that recent Chameleon show in a heartbeat if I wasn't seven months pregnant at the time and unable to stand on my feet for more than a half hour at a time. I'm still really bummed that I missed that show.

Anyway, I'm done. I guess I can't have an opinion on this board without having to defend every other band that I have ever seen live in my entire life. It's pretty frustrating and annoying. I mean lord knows Live is the greatest band ever and they can do absolutely no wrong. All bands should strive to be just like them.
