I feel the band has been a lot more varied with the setlist than the have in the past. Starland and Nokia had about 3-4 songs different and earlier in the tour the band mixed things up quite a bit. A major "problem" now is that US fans(especially in the northeast) have been spoiled with the amount of touring the band has done. I'm shocked the band has been to post sellouts after playing the same area time and time again.

After October, I hope Live finally takes a rest from the road to freshen things up again. I'm waiting for album #8, hopefully in 2009.

I wish LIVE would mix up the set list some more and throw in a surprise here or there, like The Distance, Like I Do, Sweet Release, She, Gas Head etc... I'm sure the setlist from Wilmington show will be the same or similar as the one from Lakewood show!!!

In addition, Dance With You is good, but they've been closing with that forever and a concert should end on something upbeat anyway. That's more of a middle of the show song so people can get up to get a beer. I'll be really disappointed veryangry.gif if they come to Michigan with that setlist, especially since I didn't care for it last year.

Live, if you are looking, PLEASE MIX IT UP thumbsup.gif !!!!!

I totally agree!!! Dance With You is a beautiful song but......come on already!!!

The reason, I think, for LIVE not mixing up the setlist is because if they are going to add new songs that they haven't been playing, they have to practice them together. So by not changing the setlist they don't have to take the time to practice, they can just play what they always play together. They can take more time out to spend with their families, I suppose. I asked one of the guys when I met them why they don't play Face & Ghost and one of them said they don't even remember how to play it. lol.gif

I love these guys and I'm still obsessed with seeing shows galore.....but the setlist thing drives me nuts. The bottom line is they don't take the time or initiative to practice anywhere near often enough. Thankfully, they at least now play longer sets (minus this co-headlining tour of course) and at least have around 30 songs rehearsed and ready to go on any given nite. This is an improvement from just a couple years ago. But with the catalog they have now, this number really should be bumped up to around 50 tunes. I bet they haven't seriously practiced since before the SFBM tour started, because it's been the same batch of songs for a long time now. Sparkle, Ghost, Otter Creek, Vicious Crowd, Meltdown, Flow, Gas Hed, Like I Do, Where Fishes Go, Deep Enough, Freaks, etc etc..........great tunes.............learn to play them again guys! You'd think they'd get enjoyment from re-discovering this stuff and playing it again live, too.

In their defense, I do dig most of the songs in the current rotation. Bringing back Rattlesnake, Mirror Song and Iris has been great. I have no problem with Sophia (great live) or Mystery either. Or the Johnny Cash tune. And, at least it's not the exact same set every nite....there is some variation now from nite to nite.

Final point. The fact that they have to play Heaven, I Alone, LC, TDC, All Over You, and Lakini's Juice (OK, that can stay!) at absolutely every show also drives me nuts. These tunes are all phenomenal, the core of the set and definite crowd pleasers......especially for the casual fan. But, I just don't think they have to play each and every one of them all the time at the expense of their vastly underplayed catalog. Just lope 1 or 2 of these offs each show at random. That's my take.

I was thinking the same thing...hardly no time for practice. It kind of sucks but it's understandable with them having families and all.

Oh please. What a lame excuse. Are we gong to accept that as a reason for the next 10 years as we wait for their children to grow up?

Each of the band members have external interests outside the band - they're able to devote time to those endeavours, why can't they spend a couple of days rehearsing some old material? They're musicians, it's shouldn't be that hard...

Good point. I guess it comes with part of being a band. I'm sure other bands, with members who have children, can bang out some old songs in concert. I guess we'll see.

On the other hand, a good number bands travel around for a tour and never change a single song on their setlist. Other bands always change the setlist up but then perform the songs in a substandard way. It all depends.

In 2005, if anyone told me that Live would be playing Iris, RattleSnake, and Mirror Song in concert and mixing up the order of the setlist, we'd all be ecstatic. We are just spoiled.

All good points in the last few posts. The family thing and their other ventures are a definite factor, but I also agree it wouldn't kill them to make working in more practice time a priority. It wouldn't be a big time commitment at all, and something so simple would make alot of devoted fans ecstatic if the end result is more diverse shows. Hopefully it's not wishfull thinking and it happens down the road. But whatever I guess. It is true we are spoiled to an extent. I'm mainly just happy this band still exists and that I can enjoy them live. This is just 'perfect world scenario' stuff I suppose. And as we've bantered back and forth about, they have stepped up a bit with the longer sets, bringing back a handful of great old tunes, and not playing the exact same set every nite. So believe me, I'm happy for that. I just want them to take the next step. Dare to dream...

I agree, the fact that they have families is a lame excuse. They are professionals that charge money for people to see them and buy their music. That is what they do for a living. I am a family man myself, and if I did the exact same thing at work every day I would be fired. I guess Live is an assembly line band, they do their thing as is every day.

For the comment of fans being spoiled, that is crap. It's not like I show up and they play for me. I work hard to buy my tickets. I love Live but I don't think it's to much to ask to hear a variety instead of the same thing each time. Put some effort into the craft!!!

For God's sake, their name is Live. Live up to it again like ya used to!!!!

I'm sorry to say hoodstock, but you are making no sense. Live NEVER used to change up their setlist and NEVER played over 90 minutes up until very recently. This tour they really stepped up their game mixing up their songs and playing for over 2 hours a night. Also, expect at least one new addition to the setlist for the triple play(something that will be very cool for long-time fans if it comes off).

Here is the list of shows that you've seen of Live(9/3/95, 2/27/97, 8/19/97, 11/10/99, 5/13/00, 8/2/00, 8/30/02, 6/29/04, 7/25/2006, 7/8/07) My question is have they ever played the same setlist twice? To say that Live doesn't put effort into their craft is idiotic. On stage I don't think many bands work harder at putting on a great show.

If your afraid that they may play a similar setlist on 7/7, stay home. It is as simple as that.
