I absolutely love Live, but the setlist has to change heynow.gif . I just checked what they played on June 10th this year with Collective Soul. It's almost the exact same setlist as last year banghead.gif . It was:

1) Mystery
2) All Over You
3) Selling The Drama
4) The River
5) Mirror Song
6) They Stood Up For Love
7) Voodoo Lady
8) Wings
9) Shit Towne
10) I Walk The Line [Johnny Cash]
11) Iris
12) The Dolphin's Cry
13) Heaven

ENCORE
14) Sofia
15) Lakini's Juice
16) I Alone
17) Lightning Crashes
18) Operation Spirit
19) Dance With You

The statement from one of the people at the concert was that Collective Soul was great since they were playing songs that everyone knew, and that when Live went on a stretch of what seemed like 8 songs that people weren't familiar with the place started to clear out tear.gif . I'm sorry, but Voodoo Lady, Wings, Sofia, Iris, Mirror Song, and I Walk The Line have to go. As a diehard Live fan, I don't even care for these songs. I can see why people who don't follow every step of the band's career walk out. In addition, Dance With You is good, but they've been closing with that forever and a concert should end on something upbeat anyway. That's more of a middle of the show song so people can get up to get a beer. I'll be really disappointed veryangry.gif if they come to Michigan with that setlist, especially since I didn't care for it last year.

Live, if you are looking, PLEASE MIX IT UP thumbsup.gif !!!!!

Well, I, for one, would like a set list change up from both bands. I hear the same stuff every time I see both of them. But I don't agree that they should drop songs that weren't popular. Who cares if the radio fans don't get what they want?

I can assure you the Nokia Theatre did not clear out during Live's set. Yes, some Collective Soul fans did leave, but that is usual during a co-headlinging show. If Live had played first I would have been the first one out the door and I'm sure others would have followed. Collective Soul only played 70 minutes and only had time for their hits. Live played for over 100 minutes and threw in some favorites for the crowd.

Wings, Iris, Sofia, and especially I Walk The Line got amazing reactions in Nokia and IWTL always gets a great reaction. I expect Live to add a few things by July(Triple Play Shows), but I feel the band has been mixing up their setlist way more than they have ever done in the past. I'd expect a similar setlist in Michigan but maybe with a few different songs.

My girlfriend who isn't a huge fan of Live, thought Collective Soul weren't memorable and were a support act caliber band. However she absolutely loves Wings and will be upset when it eventually leaves the setlist. So I won't show her your post calling for its demise smile.gif

I watched many fans leaving during LIVE. I was standing on the steps where people had to exit. It made me sad, but I was hoping that they were leaving because it was a Sunday night and it was late. sad.gif

But that is the norm on a Sunday night(or any night) on a co-headlining show. Say 500 fans were there to only see Collective Soul, after they played, they'd be done. Maybe they'd check out some of Live's set, but ultimately they'd be done. Same if Live went on first. That's the problem with co-headlining shows.

If the fans of the other band leave, then at least you have more space, eh?

as a musician i think that in every country, place, bar, stadium, hall, etc if you are the first band (in case that there'll play 2 bands) you get the atention of everyone, maybe the setlist is more short, they were playing the songs of SFBM or their hits, in the past they play songs more larger like POD or Ghost or I alone with another feeling, but c'mon, THEY ARE +LIVE+!!! they can do whatever they want and i'm still love them!!!

maybe, and just, maybe, as friends of Counting Crows (nominated of an Oscar, man, it sucks!!! in the way that if +Live+ do a song for a succesful movie, a nice video, and a great song, they will probably win an Oscar or be nominated too!!! Ed sing much better that Adam, c'mon!!!) anyway, they can drop (Adam or Ed) in the stage with the other band (like they do in 2000 in several songs)... so, what do you think? is vailable drop songs that i love? (like mirror song??? man, that song is great and i love that they play it right now!!! happy.gif

They will probably only play like 12 songs during the summer tour.

I would have just through with the amount of time off between shows they could have figured out a few new songs to throw in. Maybe Live just assumes no one will go see them twice so they won't ever know?

I'm not trying to be a pessimist, but if that's the case then it totally stinks. I saw Live in Michingan on July 25th, 2006. Here is that setlist:

1) Mystery
2) All Over You
3) Selling The Drama
4) The River
5) They Stood Up For Love
6) I Walk The Line [Johnny Cash]
7) Wings
8) Lightning Crashes
9) Lakini's Juice
10) The Dolphin's Cry
11) I Alone
12) Heaven
13) Show

ENCORE
14) Run To The Water
15) Mirror Song
16) Iris (with "Bad" medley) [U2]
17) White, Discussion
18) Sofia
19) Voodoo Lady
20) Dance With You

There is no way you can convince me that they are changing up the setlist. The only difference on July 10th, 2007, after almost one year, is that they took out Show, added Shit Towne and Opiration Spirit, and then mixed up the order. I would like to be proactice and help Live by letting them know they are being stagnate in their setlist. Any change would be good. They could take out the formentioned songs in my first post and add stuff like:

Pain Lies on the Riverside
Mother Earth Is A Vicious Crowd
The Dam At Otter Creek
Waitress
Turn My Head (Which Should Be A Concert Staple)
Graze
The Distance
Simple Creed
Nobody Knows
Run Away
Sweet Release
Love Shines

I'm sure there are other countless songs that other people would add to this. At this point in their careers Live should be aware that if they go to the same areas repeatedly they are performing in front of the same fan base. That is why they keep selling well in those areas.

Bottom line - I think Live would seem more innovative and be more appealing to it's fan base if they had a bigger rotation of songs in the preformance cool.gif .

I don't believe anyone would disagree with that!

I have seen Live enough to wish they'd change up their setlist more too...but at the same time there are certain songs that I want to see every time (like say Lakini's Juice). I always thought Live should have set aside two songs in the setlist that they would rotate in and out with other older songs that would add so much more variety. It doesn't have to be that many, but say if going to a show I knew they might play two of hoodstock's previously listed choices, I'd be even more excited about going. Just a thought.

I think they've been much better with adding songs and changing orders of the setlist. Expect a song you haven't heard in a while soon.

I really don't see how this could be the case. They obviously do not devote much time to the band anymore. They tour just so they can make some extra money. They don't change the setlist up and their previous album was all Ed (thus the poor result)

Don't expect the setlist to change much and the new album to be anything special.

Thanks

Live never changes their set list and that's why I don't get excited to see them everytime they come to the Philly/New Jersey area. How boring can you get every night?
