I saw Spiderman 3 last night and I have to say it was one of my worst experiences seeing a movie. Here is why:

-Way too much romantic subplot between the bland Tobey Maquire and the horrific actress/singer Kirsten Dunst(she has two solo numbers in the movie why?)

-Ever character cries, many multiple times. Tobey sheds tears 5 times on his own. It was way too melodramatic!

-At 2.5 hours it was very long. The action sequences weren't even exciting save for about 10/15 minutes at the end. Well the end before, Tobey and Kirsten shed tears twice more for good measure.

-The bad guys were underdeveloped. Long movie with minimal character developement makes no sense to me at all.

-It was just a very boring movie. If you want to see a movie in theaters now, Hot Fuzz is a better way to go. I'm waiting patiently for Pirates 3, Harry Potter and The Simpsons smile.gif

finally someone who agrees with me.

SPOILERS DOWN BELOW!

I don't think it was that the bad guys were underdeveloped .. but they wern't really bad guys, I mean think about it .. you got the story at the end of how Sandman isn't all that bad, "New" Goblin switches sides and who the hell could blame Brock for wanting to kill Peter after "emo peter/spiderman" fucked him over.
Also that whole emo thing killed me .. the poster says like "the greatest of battles are won from within" .. what? he was just being an emo smart arse .. I'd hardly call that a test of character that changed him totally .. he was doing pelvic thrusts in the street at people, dear lord spiderman has gone too far this time!

Yeah I felt totally ripped off by this, I expected more from Venom .. now don't get me wrong I think Topher Grace was a great choice, infact most of the casting was great, Sandman was perfect .. but I wanted more Venom .. they better make up for this by having Carnage in another movie .. but they probably won't because if they're this weak with the bad guys now there is no way they're gonna have a psychotic killer like Carnage.

It sort of annoyed me how the symbiot happend to land on earth right next to Peter too .. it's like the ran out of ideas on how to get it to earth. Didn't the comics have it being brought back by a space shuttle or something.

Oh and was it just me or did anyone else see Wilem DeFoe sitting in the Jazz club .. I swear to god he was sitting behind Peter and whats her face when they were on that date right before he went into his dance number.

ok thats my rant over.

and yeah Pirates 3, Harry Potter and The Simpsons I'm looking forward to much more. I'm gonna keep an open mind with The Simpsons, like sure the new episodes suck but we'll see.

I agree, Venom was the best character in the movie. I actually think Topher Grace would have made an excellent Spiderman. He has that understated demeanor that would fit Peter Parker very well. Tobey just isn't a good actor in my opinion.

I actually think the last few episodes of the Simpson have been very good. Last week's episode when Bart blew the softball game was classic.

I've never seen any spiderman anyway, but I can't wait to see Hot Fuzz. Shaun of the dead was fucking hilarious.

Yeah, Shaun of the Dead was great! Loved it!

Oh, yeah, I'm gonna watch Spidey too. Eventually. But I was never a fan of Tobey or Kristen Drunkst.

Yeah i have to say spidy sucked as well.
they should have dropped the hole romantic angle altogether. its not like anyone would have been left wanting.

And what was the deal with harry?? was he the green Goblin or the hobgoblin?? have they killed off these carachters alltogether???

Gwen Stacey, what is the point in bringing her in this late into parkers life?? its clear he's going to marry dunst at the end of the next one, or is she going to be a strong love triangle for the hole next film. forget the action lets focus on the crap

I guess I'll have to fort the minority. I actually liked this new Spiderman movie. With the exception of some really cheesey lines, specifically during the final battle scenes (just in the nick of time? who the heck says THAT anymore?!?, I thought the movie was pretty well scripted. I think the interplay between Parker and MJ is necessary for the story to move along.

The thing with Parker going black? I actually found myself wishing he would've stayed that way. It would've been a very interesting way to go in the story in that they could've had Parker/Spiderman grow increasingly evil to the point of reproach, and have it where he would need to be saved from himself by Harry, ironically since Harry wanted him dead. I think having Harry turn into the hero at the end by saving everyone (including Parker/Spiderman) from an evil Parker/Spiderman, and having Spiderman rip off the black suit would have been cool. In the meantime, the suit could've found it's way to Brock, setting up the final battle scene between Harry/Spidy vs. Venom. Spidy and Harry could've fought Venom, with Venom killing Harry and escaping Spiderman, setting up the fourth film.

Regardless, I liked it. As far as the story goes, the second one was a little better, but I liked how they fleshed this one out more.

I still plan on checking it out. Thanks for the advice but, as Ed would say, I have to "see for myself".

I agree I've enjoyed every spiderman movie.
I thought maybe they should have stuck to just venom and Harry as the bad guys and not add sandman but it worked out alright. 2 and 1/2 evil villians was a bit much.
But I'd still go see it again. lol

I would've gone to go see it again if it weren't for this bombardment of "blockbuster movies" that I just HAVE to see this summer... surrender.gif

I saw the movie and I walked out of it dissappointed for different reasons than most of you.

I was told that spiderman died in the movie so I was trying to play the movie out in my head before the movie finished. In my magical ending, Peter takes the advice (from his grandma) about men sacrificing themselves for woman to a new level and throws himself in front of harry to save him. Then, he knows that Harry also likes her so he "gives" her over to him and Mary-Jane feels bad because she ignored him and he fulfills his emo fantasies.

I liked my ending better eyebrow.gif

P.S. I know my way could never happen because the comic book nerds would form angry mobs and take over theaters so don't try to get me on that one.

Did anyone hear a cover of "Oh! You Pretty Things" in it? 67 Special were asked to do a cover for the movie, but it doesnt' appear on the soundtrack.
I am so curious to hear it recorded - only heard it live.
...yeahh, that's all.
I haven't seen it. I couldn't be fucked to be honest.
