Ok, first off, even though my account profile shows I've been a member here since Feb 06, I've got less than ten fingers worth of posts on here. And my number of posts is proof of how much I've kept up with the discussion forum, so forgive me if this has been discussed to death and back and to death again. But... why the FORK!!! didn't Live release Vine Street on one of their albums?!? I mean... uh. IPB Image

I'd been wondering about that song because I had never heard it before in my life until, oh, I'll say, six minutes ago (the only reason it's six is because I listened to it twice back to back). That song is pure kick-you-in-the-balls ferocity.... yet it's a freaking b-side? Hmm... I'll forgive them if it's their lead-off single for the next album.... or if it's even on the album. whistle.gif

I agree. I like the intensity. Makes me want to get up out of this chair and whip some ass.

Vine Street - being popular among many core fans as a leaked outtake - only made is as a b-side track on TDC single after handing the band a petition singed by over 100 (mostly Dutch) fans. Without it, the song may have never found its way to an official release. Those were the days lol.gif

Quite frankly I'd be happy for it to be a b-side and not on an album if only live released other likewise songs as b-sides, it'd give you much more insentive to buy the single .. I like when artists make really kick ass b-sides ... not that I really think this song is that great it's just mediocre to me, but still.

I agree, i find i hunt down band's single way more when they have b-sides on them...I only wish Live would do it more...

Vine Street is one song out of albums full of outtakes that should have been released on an album. I firmly believe that Live has enough great outtakes from TDTH and prior that they could have written no new material since 1999, released all the outtakes on three albums in place of V, BOP and SFBM, and would be considerably more popular than they are now. It's a shame, really, and since those recordings are held by Radioactive, they probably will never be officially released. However, they're out there...

It's pretty bad when a band is made to serve the record label, instead of the other way around. But, that's a discussion as old as the music industry itself...

Speaking of record labels... have Live decided yet to go with another label or are they still free?

I'm a fan of the Vine Street demo as compared to the finalized version that included the sirens and whatnot.

Also, it seems like the period of writing for TDTH was unbelievable for Live. To have 2 versions of TSUFL that are equally amazing (big bang and album/radio mix) shows what a great place this band was in back then. If only they could go sit in a room for a month and write songs together again...

I agree w/ you about the sirens. That's just a little hokey. But I love the crispness of the finalized version.

Btw... TSUFL "big bang" version? Which one is that?

It is the alternate take of the song...starts off slow, with ed singing "the big bang never blew me away." Entirely different vibe and entirely different sections of the song that appears on TDTH.

They should release it on their next album without the Sirens. If you play it loud in your car you can freak some people out when the sirens come on.

I've scared the shit out of myself, as a matter of fact.

Speaking of, does anybody have a good rip of the song? The ONLY copy I've ever found is the same 128 kbps rip of it and it really doesn't sound too great. And it's not like it's rare as it was an officially released b-side and on the Millennium Gift. Hell, if somebody could rip a FLAC of it, I'd be in your debt.

I've got it on a single- I'll try and find it to rip the song for you, but I'm not sure where all of my singles are anymore...
