I won Meet-N-Greet passes 2 weeks ago via the Blowout T-Shirt contest. At the time I wasn't a Homespun member but I am now.

Luckily I was able to use them for this Saturdays show in Chicago. It's a great add on for a concert I was already going to attend.

To the person that said they did backstage meet-n-greet at the Riv, how many people was back there. Was it a bunch of people crowded into a room, or are there fewer people in which you can get into some convo with the band members?

Also, what do you think my chances are of getting my Acoustic through the door to have the band sign it?

EVIL ONE...geez..thanks so much for your VALUED (NOT)opinion!!!

you must have something better to do...

Ill be in the front row at CROC and SAYRE...so NBFD!

...Thank you SINFULEYES for your help and being nice..unlike some of the stuck ups here! nod.gif

and have been a FAN club member for years...

First of all, Beth's comment was not directed at you, it was directed at the people suggesting that your solution was to contact Jimmy and that he would be happy to get you passes. So why would you get upset at her?

By the way, I think sinfuleyes either may have been pulling your leg or doesn't know what he or she is talking about because no one who knows Jimmy, SOY or the chat room would ever believe that you could just pop in, call out for Jimmy, ask for meet and greets and then expect to get them.

What offense could you possibly have taken by Beth's point that it is rude to send people out of the blue looking for Jimmy for favors. I'd say that Beth is right on the money. I would echo what Beth said - it's wrong to give out Jimmy's name like that and send someone chasing after him. He doesn't have the time and doesn't need the aggravation.

The answer to both of your questions is generally yes. It is a bunch of people crowded into a room and the band comes in and circulates around. The band members are generally very nice and they will get into personal conversations with each person that they talk to. Depending on their mood, the tour schedule and the room, they might even do shots with you. Lots of people take photos with them with point and shoot cameras. They'll sign as much stuff as you want and whatever you want. They'd sign a guitar if you can get it into the venue.

Have a great time and enjoy the show and the meet and greet! Be sure to post a review and tell us all about it!

first off let me just start off by calling you a son of a bitch.
okay now I feel better. just teasing. just jealous about meet n greet passes.
when I met Live at The Riv years ago it was on the main floor at the back by the round bar.
they split us up into three groups and then let us in.
I was group 3 and by the time I got there Ed had left. luckily I caught him outside.
it was pretty low key. no drinking. some autographs. some pics. some conversation.
good luck getting that guitar in.
just make sure if you can't you have your car close by to put it in.
see ya tomorrow night. that is if I see a guy with a guitar. I think you'll be the only one. victory.gif

I saw live at a meet and greet at rod laver in melbourne in 2004 it was amazing and i was speechless when meeting ED.

what pissed me off though was the fact that i reakon half the people in the room had won tickets via a radio station and the room was packed , and people where even taking out passes and bringing other people in with them. one bloke bought the distance to here album in and said he bought it at the gas station and and said to me "this is there latest album right"

chad gracey walked the whole length of the room and stood in the corner for about ten minutes and hardly anyone in the room knew who he was.

in the end i pulled out of the fan club because whats the point of paying 40 dollars (aus) a year for a christmas cd single .

cheers

I really disagree with you here. Jimmy essentially runs FOL, as he pays for the site, runs the site and is highly active in the chat and on the discussion board. He is truly the most visible person who has a direct connection to the band and the fan club. By virtue of playing that role which he so greatly values, to the tune of paying thousands a year out of pocket just to keep it, he should expect people who want to meet the band to ask him for passes. If he doesn't want to give them out, fine, but I hardly think it's rude to simply ask him. The guy is sitting around in chat for hours each day talking about llamas; I don't think he "doesn't have the time." My what a touchy group they have become when asking them simple questions causes them aggravation!

WOO! Settle there! You obviously haven't been around very much of you would know that Jimmy is inactive and has been for the past year or so. Gen's been running the SOY boards.

Jimmy does NOT run the fanclub. Yes he has access to the band, but ya know what in the long run he's just a fan like the rest of us.

You are a LLAMA for giving out this information and seriously think about it how would you feel if random strangers were constantly harrasing you through e-mail, private message and every other electronic form to "hook em up".

It's just not cool dude, I don't care what you think about anybody or what role they may play. Have a little respect for a fellow human and respect privacy.

Wow, what complete incompetence. First of all, even though Gen is running the boards, Jimmy is still quite active in chat and certainly is around on just about a daily basis.

Second of all, I never said he runs the fanclub. I said he runs the site FOL. In fact, by saying he is the most visible person with connections to the fanclub, you should have inferred that I meant he does not run it.

Third, I never gave out his information. You got the wrong guy. What the hell is a llama anyway? You oldies at FOL might think that's cool, but to the rest of the world you sound as gay as Bobbie.

Finally, why don't you get a little knowledge of the situation and respect my own privacy before accusing me of doing things I haven't done. All I did was stand up for a dude who got his balls busted for asking Jimmy about passes. The bottom line is that Jimmy is the best person to ask, Jimmy surely has the time to respond with a no, and it's not the big deal you all are making it out to be. I honestly think the band would be really disappointed if they knew this kind of shit went on; seems kind of counterintuitive to their whole message for their fans to get reamed by a bunch of pricks when they just want passes. Will you be at the Lancaster show? I'd just love to meet all you FOL people.
