LOL ... the tree. Dammit.

That really isn't a bad idea. That could be the replacement for the hologram/vampire theory.

QUOTE(PurdueSteve @ Mar 26 2007, 3:41 pm) *

I was a man on a mission!!
I'll bet you my guitar!! My fiance wrote a paper on Lightning Crashes comparing it to her complicated birth, in which she speaks about feeling greatful for having an opportunity to live. Last year she past away, so that paper and Lightning Crashes means a great deal to me. This being my first show, it was the "must hear" song for me. I was almost bummed [can't be completely bummed because it was a great show] and was soooooo relieved when they opened up the second encore with it.
Yeah, he said they "dropped the setlist" during the show, I'm guessing that meant that they decided not to go with the scheduled list and just make it up as they go!! They did superb IMO
Thanks, I was getting some looks all night long, so I didn't know if I came off as some kind of Ebayer reseller or something!! I was sooo close to asking the ladies to "earn" a pass, but I am a gentlemen. In my pics above, the blonde woman approached me at the meet and greet, and said "hi, my name is XXXXXX, I just wanted to let you know you played awesome tonight."

I was like WTF, does this chick think I'm in Live??
Yeah, I chatted with Adam for quite awhile. I offered to buy him [and the other guys a drink], he was the only one that accepted, and he wanted a Diet Coke!! LOL

ha yes you were!

well it looks like you can keep your guitar. a setlist was posted and Lightning Crashes was indeed the first song of the second encore. So sorry to hear about your fiance. If I had know Lightning Crashes was such a special song I would have never doubted you.
I have no idea why I thought it was the last song of the original set. oh well. And when Adam mentioned it's been forever since they closed a show with it he must have been referring to Michigan because they closed the show with it.
You posted 16 songs and I added 4 so we had all of them. And you were pretty close with getting them all in order. kudos. I wrote down all the songs at The Vic last May but didn't feel like messing with it the other night. They might have "dropped" the setlist but it was pretty darn close to the Michigan show. Chicago got two more songs.

maybe you should take your guitar to all future Live shows if that's the kind of attention you get! tongue.gif

Thanks so much for the videos; they are really awesome. Mirror Song is easily my favorite. Is it just me, or does Live look really old and ridiculous when performing All Over You and Lakini's Juice?

I don't know. Their onstage antics mirror their newfound views on music, which are basically to not take anything seriously. When they were still performing concerts filled with great tracks such as Don't Wait and Still Aroused, you wouldn't have caught them dead prancing around to Lakini's Juice or AOY like they are now.

I agree with you. Their onstage personas have totally changed. When I go back and watch a live show from the Samadhi era it's like they aren't even the same band. Not to mention any of the live shows before 97. I think they're a totally different live band than they used as far as performing goes. I miss the way that they used to be but I guess it's normal for a band that has been around this long to change a bit. I mostly just miss the intensity that they used to have.

I personally think the band has improved in their on-stage performance over the years. They seem to have more fun now than they did in the past. Also, their onstage chemistry is amazing. Lakini's Juice is usually the highlight of the show for many fans and the performance of the song is anything but cheesy in my opinion. All Over You is very well done as well in my opinion. To each his own I suppose

I agree with you too. Compared with ten years ago, they play better together, Ed's voice is more consistent and they play most of the songs much better than the studio versions. I had a great time at both Sayreville shows last year and hope to have as good of a time in Lancaster in a few weeks.

The difference is really just in their onstage behavior. They might play AOY or even new stuff like Sofia much better than the album version, but Ed is prancing around like a fool and Taylor is stomping to a ridiculous degree just to get the crowd into it as opposed to actually feeling the music. Pat and CG still have yet to make me embarrassed to be a Live fan, though.

I dunno, you're right...to each his own...but Live is more than about the music. Their music is pretty good but most of it is far from extraordinary in terms of writing. What makes me, and I think a lot of others, fans of this band is the intensity and emotion put into their works, and even though the performance is better these days, those qualities are certainly lacking, just like on SFBM and BOP. It's definitely something to criticize, I think, but I'm glad they're still around, playing shows and headed to the studio later this year for #8.

I've been a fan for a long time and back in the early 90's their concerts were...well..not really as fun and exciting as they are now. I think I've gone to more concerts in the last few years than I have back in the 90's. I like when they get crazy and run around and such instead of just standing there. I went to a concert at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ many years ago and Ed really didn't interact with the crowd as much and he sang with his eyes closed alot. My first LIVE concert was at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. I forget what the place is called now. The TC tour. My friend and I had crappy seats. The band started playing TBD and we heard Ed singing but we didn't see him. Next thing we know he came out right in front of us and started singing!!! Of course he had his eyes closed! My friend and I still make fun of how they used to be in concert!! lol.gif
