Riviera Theatre
Chicago, IL

Taper: Darktrain

Seated 8 rows back in the balcony just off right center.

MM-HLSC2"Sennheiser Driven" Cardioids> MM Mini Battery Box>Line In>
Sony TCD-D8>Digital Out>Audigy Digital In>CreativeSound Recorder>
Wave>CD Wave Editor(Split Tracks)>Wave Pad(Normalize)>Flac>You

My first Recording using this setup and i think it turned out very good, I would
say a solid A/A- with nice clear vocals, was very impressed with the way these
mics recorded. Adjusted the levels a couple times(small drop in volume on track 11 halfway through,
amplied that section to keep the volume consistant) because the soundman kept cranking it up so i
just normalized it to keep a steady volume other than that no post production. Great show with tons
of energy, crowd was really into it.

Thanks for the heads up, as always! Quality's OK, but it's something to get me in the groove for the Allentown show!

would you say the quality is really A/A-? I'm such a stickler for quality, I just find it unlistenable if you could believe it's anything less than what a radio station might broadcast tongue.gif

Radio broadcast would sound better. I'm still able to listen to it, but I wouldn't throw it on my iPod. I'm about as picky as you.

I use Winamp...not sure if it supports FLAC right off the bat or not. I also have the FLAC Frontend installed, so that may have installed the codecs.

If you're using Windows Media Player to play music, all you need to do is download a codec and then you can add FLAC files to your WMP library as you would any other mp3 file. You can download it from:
http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/oggcodecs_0.71.0946.exe

If you want to burn the FLAC files to a CD (to play in a CD player) then you'll need to convert the FLAC file to a WAV file. You can do this with a program called FLAC Frontend. You can get it from: http://cyberial.com/flacinstaller.asp
Once your files are in the WAV format, just burn using your favourite burning software...

I just had a quick listen to the show and I agree with Jacob, the quality of the recording is average and definitely not a A/A-.
Too boomy at times and occasionally suffers from distortion. That being said, some tracks are quite clear and very listenable.

The sound is o.k in my mp3 player, but I think the band sounds like they are on auto pilot, not the greatest concert.

It's the recording [which in my opinion wasn't horrible], the band was definitely not on auto pilot. They were into the show, and they kicked ass!!

No it wasn't horrible I didn't say that. What I meant was it sounded mutch better in my mp3 player than on my pc. And it's nice to hear that it was a great concert.
O.K tongue.gif
