You guys know I love LiVE, but let's be honest. SFBM does not rock. Never did, never will.

But Rush still rocks, after 33 years in the business! rockin.gif

Listen to their new single at http://www.rush.com and let me know what you think.

The new album, Snakes and Arrows, comes out on May 1 to be followed by a 48-city tour of North America, Europe and South America. The album has 13 tracks, three of which are instrumental and a ten minute track as well. This album may prove to be the long-awaited masterpiece that Rush has not quite created for a very long time. Fans everywhere are cross-eyed with anticipation.

If you guys are yearning for some profound rock, like the kind LiVE used to give us, you just might find it with Rush.

I like the song. Its just nice to hear a bunch of musicians that are actually talented for a change. That seems to be pretty rare these days. I've always liked Rush but never became a hardcore fan of theirs. It is pretty amazing that they are still around after all of these years and still have such a loyal fanbase with virtually no radio play, at least not where I live. They must be doing something right.

I didn't know Wayne Hussey was in Rush (joke... but that dude with the long hair does look like the dude out of The Mission).

Rush always make my head hurt. They're not a bad band by any means, but I can't listen to their songs more than a handful of times because it becomes painfully apparent that I'm a simple little soul. I am much happier with songs that revolve around a couple of really nice elements rather than about 6 disparate ideas that bounce around aimlessly and end up sounding muddled. Rush songs always seem to have the kitchen sink chucked in there for good measure and that song was no exception. I just find prog rock too demanding for the rewards you get.

Always smart to knock a band on their own fansite to promote another artist. sarcasm.gif

This song sounds 33 years old with its 2 minute into and all. In my opinion, The River is a way better song than this. This particular track sounds like processed junk to me.

the music sounds excellent, but geddy's vocals are just okay for me on this tune, they seem a little too processed or something. anyway, i do agree they are extremely talented, even though i haven't really listened to them much since Grace Under Pressure. Thanks for the link Double G.

Sorry. Just being honest. I haven't been on here in a while. Maybe things have changed since Dan had this site. I thought it was Jimmy's site that required fanboi wanking.

Knocking Live on their website will not get fans of live to like a Rush song. Its faulty logic.

Well, I didn't really knock LiVE, did I? In fact, I said I love LiVE. I just said that SFBM does not rock. That's a pretty well-established fact. I'm not trying to get y'all to like a Rush song either. That's up to you.

Sorry, I'll go away. I didn't know this board got all wussified. cry.gif

The topic of this thread: Rush Kicks Live's Ass, It's a Far Cry better than The River

Its's fine if you feel that way, but it doesn't make it true. I personally think the new Rush song is horrendous. It is obvious that their lead singer's voice is shot and the studio track is overly processed to compensate for his loss.

However, I doubt I'd win over any new Live supporters if I went onto Rush's message board and said, "Buy Songs from Black Mountain, its' way better than Rush's new single." Tearing down another band on their own message board will likely not win you any new followers. That was my point.

It could do. I would much rather listen to this than Live's new crap.

What a ridiculous comment. Just because good music that actually has an intellegent thought process go in to it doesn't make it in to the mainstream these days doesn't mean that the music is 'old-fashioned'. You might like 3 minute crap pop songs, but I certainly don't. (I'm not denying that pop can be good either- there just isn't much of it around nowadays.)

What a hilarious thing to say on a Live message board. Do you have any idea what you're talking about? SFBM and BOP are far more 'processed' than this. Don't forget you're listening to what is probably a 96kbs stream. The sound quality is obviously going to suffer.

Progressive music (that actually progresses) is my favourite 'genre' of music- there's a lot of crap bands that claim to be prog, but the whole point of it is that it's music that goes somewhere, pushes envelopes etc.

For some reason, a couple of moments remind me of King's X.. (I don't know why- just a couple of elements)

Haha, it's been wussified for a long time. There are still some cool people here though

I hate threads that turn out like this...everyone posting their opinons and no one agreeing to disagree. Just respect other people's interests and opinions and it won't get ugly or "wussified".

I personally like the new Rush song. I'm not a huge fan, but it's nice to see the guys with something new that totally sounds like Rush...plus, the drums sound amazing (of course).

I still like all of LIVE's music too...even SFBM! whistle.gif
