Local favorite Ed Kowalczyk of the band Live had a long curly head of hair around the time of his band’s modern rock masterpiece "Throwing Copper" in 1994, but when it came time to make the first video, he was totally cue balled, a status of smooth he’s kept ever since. The York native has spawned numerous imitators, most notably last year’s American Idol fourth place finisher Chris Daughtry, who also performed with Live on the junk food for the mind show finale. Kowalczyk and Live are still going strong, when he’s not chasing down ancient Chinese herbalist wisdom; an odd, but true bit of trivia.

It's not accurate though, we all know Ed went "Amish-style" after this first bald period. And had that awkward ponytail.
