To add to the title of this thread...

VALENTINE'S DAY!

I with you on this one. Its a made-up hallmark holiday that just makes half the population feel miserable. It needs to take a hike!

Chook: ice scrapers should be with you at all times. Not in the trunk!!!!!

Heather: I'm not trying to defend your parents & PILs, but they must be so excited. Before you explode, consider swallowing your anger one more time and just talk to them. Tell them you appreciate everything they want to do, and I'm sure they will be superhelpful once the chicklet shows up, but this is your first pregnancy and you want to enjoy every second of it (especially since you went thru so much to get to this point). You can even tell them 'I know you don't mean to, but quite honestly, you're stressing me out and that's not good for me or the baby'. And you want to set things up the way YOU want to set things up.

Or, you need to realize that pregnant women ALWAYS get what they want. Throw a complete fit, throw things around, freak the fuck out, storm out of the house, and have Tim say, 'Whatcha gonna do. She's pregnant. Let's do things her way.' Then you both go home and get what you want. kicking.gif

I don't know. Don't go by me. When I was a baby, my parents took me out for dinner. I was cranky and miserable and too tired and crying and screaming ... people in the restaurant were complaining and the manager asked my parents to either shut me up or leave. Luckily, there was a baby furniture store next to the restaurant. My dad took me there, gave the salesman a few bucks, and left me in one of the cribs to sleep while he went back and ate dinner with my mom.

ok, here's the story...jennyfoo and i went out for a nice dinner tonight, and since my apartment complex still hasn't been properly plowed and there isn't much parking available, we decided to meet at Old Navy in york (our old usual spot). so i pick her up, we go to dinner, then we head back to my place to watch a movie and then when we left to go back to her car, we pull into the parking lot and THE CAR IS GONE!!! OH SHIT! NOW WHAT?! i drove around just to make sure it wasn't somehow moved to another area of the shopping center parking lot, but no such luck. when we were heading to her car, i noticed 2 cops sitting in a parking lot down the road, so we go there, pull up to the cops and tell them we think her car was stolen. the cop asks where it was parked and then said that it was probably towed. he made a few calls and it turns out it was towed pretty much right before we got there. luckily the guy who towed it agreed to let us pick it up tonight instead of waiting until tomorrow, so we head downtown and wait for him and then jennyfoo got her car. but i have to say, we were both scared shitless when we thought it was stolen!! luckily things turned out ok.

heather & lisa--just a heads up that we can't park at Old Navy anymore. apparently they tow cars from there all the time, but we've just been lucky every time. so we need to find a new meeting place for the future.

oh, another thing...we asked the cop if he knew how much it would cost to get the car back and he looks at us with a completely straight face and says "maybe $1000 or $1200"...of course he told us he was kidding, but i told him "a cop with a sense of humor at 1:30 in the morning isn't a good thing!" but he was cool about it and helped us find the car.

Jesus Christ Chooky! I can't believe that! I've always been a little wary of leaving my car there just because of the simple fact that it IS York but I never thought they would tow it. I wonder what the big deal is? I even left my car there once over night and never had a problem and we've left cars there many times until really late at night. You think they would put up some kind of sign or something because the fact that your car can be towed with no warning is bullshit! I'm glad you got it all straigtened out and it didn't cost a fortune at least. What reason did they actually give for towing it? That just seems to ridiculous to me.

Janice, thanks for the advice. Believe me I know they are excited for me and I know they mean well and that is why I always accept their advice with a smile on my face instead of being a raging bitch and hurting their feelings. This is my first baby but not their first grandchild so you think they would haved eased up on the advice giving thing a little by now. I've been really pleasant and easy to live with up until this point, even moreso than I was before, but sometimes stuff just builds up and I feel the need to vent. This was the perfect place to do it instead of venting to my MIL or my mom. As far as other parents trying to drag me down with their war stories, I guess that's just something I need to get used to. I have made Tim promise me that if I ever get like that he needs to tell me to shut up immediately. lol.gif

It's just been a huge adjustment already for me as far as my social life and things go and I'd just like to be able to ease into the whole parenthood thing without constantly hearing about poopy diapers and sleep deprevation. I know it won't be easy but I just wish some people would hold back a little on what they feel like they need to share with me. I don't know it's like I said, I'm reaching the bitchy part of pregnancy and like you said I am allowed!

well, the reason they gave us is that the shopping center closed and the car was still there, so they towed it. technically, there are signs saying that cars will be towed, but they are posted as you're turning into the shopping center, so it's not like it's very noticable. i told the cop that we've left cars there lots of times and never had a problem and he said we were just lucky.
