This is good news. I hope they enter the recording studio and just jam spontaneously, writing new songs, lyrics, riffs on the spot. Nothing premeditated.

Go record in the dead of winter in Minnesota...just like Throwing Copper.

According to wikipedia, Songs from Black Mountain has only sold 42,000 copies. Is that correct?

That's horrible!!

I'm sure that's incorrect. Wikipedia isn't reliable at all. I wonder what the worldwide figure on the album is. However, since Epic pushed them onto an indy label and pulled all promotion from the album, its no wonder it didn't sell well in the US. If you don't get radio play and promotion, your album won't sell.....its as simple as that.

QUOTE(drewgood @ Nov 19 2006, 9:54 pm) *

i hate to be negative here, but c'mon now... ed's been upset about what's on the radio for YEARS. he used to tell the backstreet boys to 'fuck off' at the end of shit town (as far back as 2000) during shows. and that was AFTER they already put out what the majority of fans consider to be the band's last 'great' album.

personally, i expect the next album to hopefully have one or two pleasant surprises, but past that we're in a situation where if you like sfbm, you'll probably dig album 8... but if you hated sfbm, your disappointment in their next batch of songs will only grow.

has anyone ever stopped to realize that ed probably doesn't even know how to write 'angry' music anymore? he is an artist afterall, and the work of artists reflects what's in their hearts. ed's a father of two. unless he writes a really angry song about all the doody diapers he's had to change, i would not expect a lot of angst next time around.

I agree that despite a promise of anger (and anger does not equal good), the new album will probably be similar in style to SFBM - just with angrier subject matter. If Ed isn't angry and tries to write angry music, I am sure that we will be dissapointed. However it turns out, I hope that Live (notice I say Live, and not Ed) writes whatever is in their hearts. That's probably the best chance of a great new album.

I think what we are all forgetting is that Live are if nothing else a Rock band!! What better way to prove they aren't a pop band then to do a complete 180 from the last album.

Does that sound familiar?? Ed said something like that on the awake interview in regards to releasing ligntning crashes then on the new album lakinis juice.

I believe that the new album will be alot different to SFBM and I thought that before the ac concert. Yeah Ed is all happy and in love and has kids but at the end of the day there's only so much Love you can write about! Ed wouldn't be blind to the fact that the last couple of albums haven't been the best they've done. And as a true artist I know he will do something about it.

Ed heard that Dan was going to leave Fansoflive so he decided to make album 8 an awesome one, to keep dan in the mix and to keep fansoflive going strong.

Wikipedia isn't reliable at all.

Not to turn this into a Wikipedia debate or anything, but that statement's quite false.

As a Wiki editor, I delete any and all false information I come across. Some things get through, but that's a rarity nowadays.

But wiki has information on every topic you can imagine. How can you decipher which information is correct and which is not? For example the sales figures for SFBM, who knows the exact amount of copies sold? I sure don't, and I doubt you do. That's all I mean.

personally I'm tired of the 'angry' album talk.
it implies that the band has to get pissed off about something before they write it. or Ed writes it.
and I just don't think that's gonna happen.

I'd prefer edgy, dark, heavy, mean. etc.

and I love Wikipedia!

smile.gif I'd listen to anything they write or play!
They could do a remake of a Britney Spears album and I'd Love it as long as Ed sings (and takes his shirt off smile.gif and chad t stomps and does some crazy guitar intro and pat is on bass, shaking his head around and chad g is drumming away like there is no tomorrow!!

Bring it on smile.gif

Thats unbelievable only 42,000 copies ? I like the cd, but I do like them rocking out a bit more- a little more edge - but either way i will go see them and buy the next cd.
