Seriously...another Live quit thread? WHY?

And when they sometime down the line say: well, we're done. that'll be it. I'll miss the gigs... but it's not like all of a sudden all my cd's will selfdestruct or sumthin.

Bands can end on even worse things than voluntary quitting. No one ever started a When will Kurt Cobain finally shoot himself thread on nirvana.com. No one ever started a When will Freddie Mercury die of Aids thread on queen.com. Things happen... things can go wrong. But all this crap about this is gonna be the final concert and shit, annoying.

so no matter what.... there'll always be the music. even when for what reason whatsoever Live ceases to exist....

I'm gonna be a bit pedantic- the internet, particularly message boards like this one, weren't really around or thriving when Kurt or Freddie died...

Maybe it's time for me to start a 'When will Patrick pass on in a tragic pet store accident involving exploding fish tanks and seven rabid rabbits?'

hope they're coming to the Netherlands (or Belgium) too!!!!!
I really don't think they will quit, and if they do than this is the first thing I hear about it...
sis

I described it before in the other thread:
Dont be afraid> there is not a single reason why to suppose Live is gonna quit!

1. Just before the release of SFBM (it was already finished at that time), Ed told in an interview with a dutch music magazine that people must not be surprised if Live was gonna be experimental again in the future. You understand? FUTURE. Live has a future...
2. Ed promised on several performances in the SFBM-Tour to come back soon at that place. How the hell are they gonna come back there if they quit ??
3. Chad Gracey told in an interview that they hadn't discided yet if the next album (no.8, without counting Awake) will be more rockin' or not. Again, this fact shows us there will be a new album.
4. Speculations about a new Live DvD...I know, we heard it many times that a DvD was coming, but Ed said in march this year at a dutch radio station that one of the points by switching to Epic was that they wanted to release a live dvd.
5. As a final reason why it is ridiculous to think Live will quit, remember Ed's passion about the new music. His passion is still there man, not less than it used to. Maybe many fans don't like the stuff Ed is excited about, but you can't deny the fact that he is totally stunned by what he (or Live) has done with the new album. Remember all the interviews. Check out Ed's comment on the SFBM dvd about the songs of the album Maybe nobody wants that, but it will be a very good reason to write more albums (like SFBM or totally different, I can't say).

So like it or not, but Live/Ed is (in their/his own view) more ALIVE than ever, I think.

The whole point of this thread was to drive fans to go see Live for perhaps the last time in a long time this weekend. We've been spoiled with the constant touring this year, but in case this is the end, a proper goodbye is always nice. Of course I don't want Live to call it quits, but I think it is a very real possibility. Yes, Ed promised that the band would be back to a lot of places this year. He promised fall dates in Atlanta, NYC, Chicago etc. Where are the fall dates? Ed says a lot of things, and while he his passionate about his music, there is no guarantee others in the band feel the same way.

If a LIVE DVD does come out, it will likely end Live's contract with the label. I come to this conclusion because Epic moved Live to red distribution and barely promoted SFBM. It looks like that relationship is just about severed. Similar to when Geffen released Live's greatest hits to end their contract with the band.

Live may stay together. But it looks like the guys are physically and mentally burned out at this point and need a very long break from touring. They toured themselves out, and without the label pushing the CD to make it a success in the states, it must feel like a lot of work for nothing for them.

The point of this thread was to go see Live while you still at the chance(this w
I'd hope they come back in late 2007/early 2008 refreshed with the realization that they don't have to tour non-stop anymore. I also hope they can work together on a direction for their music.

Lien: there are a lot of people here who don't like that Live started to make softer and "lighter" music and less complicated sounding lyrics with easier words (but still the same messages in it I think).
SJN1279 is one of the people who doesn't like the softer Live.

These people want Live to take a long break (long hiatus) and them to return with the kind of music they made in the early 90's.
And otherwise they want Live to quit.

I know that, but SJN1279 is one of the few "negative" ones here that actually had some good arguments for not liking it that much anymore. He's a fan who looked forward to the new album and took the time and effort to really listen to it, before he decided that it wasn't what he's looking for anymore. That's alot more than you can say about others on this board...
Imo, he had made some good points here before and therefore I tend to take what he says more seriously. smile.gif

I never said that I didn't like the softer Live. I'm a huge fan of SFBM and I felt if Epic managed the album correctly, The River and and especially Mystery would have been solid hits for the band. I do not want Live to break up at all. I'm a fan of all of their work and no one comes close to matching them in a concert setting for me.

I do think the band needs a brief hiatus to recharge and figure their direction though. I'd love for them to play a few shows late 2007 after they take nearly a year to refocus. That is my hope of hopes.

I guess I still can't deal with this kind of topics.

and you draw your conclusion from what as far as them being physically and mentally burned out?

touring is where the real $ comes from for bands, so I hardly think it's for nothing. plus they love it. successful cd or not.

I have felt annoyed because of this for a very long time.
But I'm getting over it now.
I think it's better to be tolerant and to respect their opinion, even if it annoys or hurts you.

But deep inside I'm done with this kind of topics too.

GvB.

Why are you still going on about the whole 'softer' thing? I've said so many times that the fact that the music is 'lighter' isn't the reason a lot of people don't like the new music.

Speaking for myself, a lot of my favourite music is a lot lighter than Live. (And some of it is 1000 times heavier) It doesn't matter, as long as intensity and dynamics still remain.

The music on the new Live album, is, no matter how you look at it, cheesy. And thats without bringing those cringe-inducing lyrics in to the equation. The chord progressions are quite simply badly written- some 13 year olds can write better music. All of the songs have been written thousands of times before by other people. I can't bear to think that because certain people hear are obsessed fanatics they're completely blinded to the fact that their favourite bands latest album is, technically, badly written junk. There's so much better music out there.

Feel free to 'connect' with it all you like, but ask yourself... if it wasn't Live, would you still like and defend this album as much as you do?

I LOVE LIVE and everything about them!!!

They won't quit they love what they are doing too much, they just need a break to spend with their families, wives, children etc etc. Imagine not seeing your partner for almost 2 years!! It would take its toll!

Be patient enjoy the Cds, Dvds etc and they will be back before you know it smile.gif
