#37 on Hot A/C charts and seems to have stalled

Not good news for a first single at all. Seems like its not getting much airplay at all.

They could be waiting for the big push since the album release is over 2 months away. If "The River" doesn't become a big hit, the blame falls squarely on Epic as far as I'm concerned.

The River is up to #34 on this weeks Hot A/C chart. Plays increased from 290 last week to 320 this week. The slow climb continues.....

G-Rock radio, a NJ shore ROCK radio station, are playing the guitars-down version of the song. It seems that never sent them the guitars-up version, which actually fits on rock radio. I sent it out to them and Ethel 47 on XM. Maybe we should start sending the guitars up version to stations....talk to PD's and ask them which version they have.

I just hope Epic is pushing this song correctly......

I wouldn't worry about Epic in the least. They know what they're doing. They're putting a lot into promotion. The biggest radio station here billed their concert with Nickelback as a "co headliner" show. They had Ed on the day after his acoustic show and plugged the cd huge. Our video stations, who've played nothing from Live since the TDTH era, all of a sudden are plugging the new cd and have had Ed on several interviews.

If you look at all the promo appearances Ed has done already, it's quite obvious that SONY/EPIC are letting people know what they want done.

This song will obviously get a slow push. The cd release is still 2 months away. If they push too fast, this song will be spent a month before the release date and then what will they do? Can't release a second single before the release of the cd. I think it will get most of it's adds around the middle of April or so. Then you'll be hearing it everywhere. Sony is going to hammer the shit out of this cd and they have the money to do it too.

I know we don't get along all that well, but very good post. What have you been doing to help promote the single? Would you like to work together? E-mail or post back.

I'm not sure if emailing and calling to request the song to different radio stations will help the single at all. I would think they can detect who is really a fan of the song, heard it for the first time, and wants to hear it again.. from a longtime follower of the band who calls in just to get their favorite band on the radio and up the charts. Maybe if you use different emails and act like "Who sings that song that starts off "la da da da, I really wanna hear that again" they'll start playing it more often but they do get annoyed by "street teams". A while back when Heaven was just getting played on Alternative radio (and quickly faded from that format) I emailed the radio a couple times, and they emailed back and said "Looks like you're the odd man out, you're the only one requesting this". If Sony spends money to push this single, that's a lot more than we could do. And if it's good enough, it'll eventually make its way to the top of the charts.

I usually find that alternative/rock dj's and staff members are usually pompous assholes. Not all, but a larger number than in other formats. And calling can help, if other people are calling as well. Same as voting in election, your vote may not make the difference, but it can only help.

Not sure if this is the right thread or what, but I heard WINGS on the alt radio station in Portland. I about sh*t! I was driving home from the gym and thought it was the post workout high but sure enough the dj said it was from LiVE's latest cd and that Ed K is "great...better than the lead singer from Dashboard Confessional," whatever that means.

Ed just posted on the bands MYSPACE page. He didn't say much new stuff except that he is currently touring US radio stations solo.

I think it is cool that he is actually checking things out.
