Eh. Not so much. Tool and NIN are really the two bands that I would say have had drastic impacts on the way I view/think about music, and since music is a huge part of my life, those two bands really have had some impact on the direction my life has taken.

That isn't really true of live, though.

But I must say, I've met a shitload of people from this site, and many of them have had an effect on my life, so I guess, albeit indirect, live has had an effect on my life.

yes . +LIVE+s music has changed my life. its hard to explain, but without it my husband (who is another passionate live-fan) and me wouldn´t´have had the wonderful, dramatic, deep, passionate, unbelievable start of our our relationship years ago. their music was some kind of code for us ... it was so intense ... and it is still. no other band would have been able to support our first steps ... now we´re married - still accompanied by +LIVE+s music.

thanks for that.

Hi!

What a fantastic thread!

Well Live did not change my whole life but Live changed the way I deal with it and with the world.
And I hope that they will go on bring out new songs for a very long time.
It sounds silly, but I need it to learn from it.
I need to learn to figure out how to carry the difficult things in my life any better and to become really peaceful and how to help other people to be peaceful too.
And it reminds me that I have to consider other people and the nature when I do things.

I was almost 25 when I started to listen to Live, I was very busy to look at everything that had already happened to me AND I was sad about things which were (and sadly still are) going wrong in this world.
And I had just figured out that I was not very happy with who I had become.

It was a few months after 9/11, and I felt sad about what happened, felt very sorry for the people who had lost beloved people, was angry with the terrorists and I felt that there was something changed inside of me, but I did not know what it was, until I saw the clip of "Overcome" with all that words and lines.
I read: "Can you imagine world peace?"
And all of a sudden I new what was bottering me: I was sure that I could do that before and I'm sure that I could.
But then, I read that line on that moment....and I thought: I don't know.
And that was hard.
But in the end I finally knew what was changed inside of me.
And I read things like: What can you do for your country? and: What can you do for the world?
And the idealist in me woke up after a far too long sleep.

I made up my mind, bought all albums of Live as soon as possible and discovered a lot in the lyrics while listening.
Things about me, what I could do, sometimes a very hard confrontation with things.
There are still songs I'm hardly able to listen to because they bring too much painful things up in my mind (but I play them sometimes because I think that I have to).
But majority of the songs are awesome to me and contain things that I can use to become a better person (for example to give it at least a try to see things from different points of few) and the songs of SFBM (which are beautiful to me) remind me of enjoying the good things in life like the nature, nice people, music.
And that makes me feel good and motivates me to make dicisions that are not only good for me but also consider other people and the nature and which maybe improve this world a very very little bit.

So in fact it has changed ''me".

GvB.

First, Live saved me from pop music, and by default from becoming another clueless teenage girl content to deny my intelligence and consider my worthiness by the cloths I wore the “friends” that I had.

Now that those years are behind me (though not that far) Live has, and in particular, Ed, taught me that true peace comes from an understanding of all of life, and that understanding comes from yourself.

While I am still searching for this understanding, and the peace that I know will come with it, I am on that journey with Live!

But on a not so deep and meaningful note, Live gets me through everyday of my job, where I deal with stressed out and angry people everyday. There music plays in the background all day, Ed’s picture is on my wall, and that helps me find the empathy to forgive my clients when they are rude to me and to deliver to them the best of myself that I can in solving their problems.

Changed it? Not really. I'm also one who will say Live has most definitely enhanced my life. I literally cannot picture my life without them in it smile.gif

If I go more than a day or so without hearing Ed's voice, I go into withdrawals. tongue.gif

I judge my music by the effect it has on my whole being, and Live's music not only fits, but it gives me goosebumps almost everytime I hear it, and that's something special. thumbsup.gif

I can actually relate to that in a lot of ways.

Believe it or not, there are about three or four bands that have changed my life (in good ways), and one of those bands is Live. Like the others, Live's music was able to impact me in ways I could never imagine...they were also the first band that really changed me and shaped what I have done in the past, and to an extent, what I still do today. It's really hard to explain how their music has done it, but along with Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, and Collective Soul's album Dosage, my life would be a lot different without Live's music. So in that way at the very least, my answer to this queston is yes.
