if "Home" sounds like "What Are We Fighting For?", it's sure to rock.

"What Are We Fighting For?" seemed to have an angry-ish tone behind it. If "Home" was recorded during the BOP sessions, it might of had a similiar tone, but as it stands now it is very poppy and sounds like re-hashed material.

Didn't Ed in a recent interview describe Night of Nights as something different, perhaps experimental, in comparison to the rest of the record? If so, is he blowing smoke or what?

It does sound like it maybe could of been an outtake, especially when you listen to the beginning portion, so there is some truth to that. Ed says "I give you my love" 14 times in this song though, so it fits in with the love theme that is evident in the rest of the album.

After V and BOP, I'm surprised you set your expectations so high. I'll go get the stretcher and carry you away to the infirmary.

So, let's summarize: Lots about love -- even more than usual; most tracks are radio-friendly pop tunes; several sound like outtakes, meaning they're probably the soft leftovers from BOP; and basically the album is about how much Ed loves his two daughters and wife.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. But there you have it.

As for the "falsetto" that everyone seems to despise, this is actually very hard to do.

Which Ed seems to prove by not doing it very well.

He does it better than most women.

And if "Home" sounds like "What Are We Fighting For?", it's sure to rock.

If "Home" sounds like "What are we fighting for?", it's sure to suck.

Remember... Beau99 said WAWFF is one of Live's greatest songs... don't take anything he says too seriously. eh.gif

Hush. It's not one of their greatest songs, but it's an anti-war song, and I'm a sucker for those no matter how bad they are.

guess LIVE doesnt want to rock anymore...are content with their adult contemporary pop crap.
and yes its crap. Their highest album sales were throwing copper, yet stray further and further from that sound. SS was kinda dark for radio...and not sure why TDTH didn't do as well, but christ, BOP and V proved to be death sentenses for them, as they lost credibility in the eyes of most people, yet they continue on that same track.

BUT, maybe if we all buy the album and purchase LOTS of merchandise to boost sales profits...putting more money in their pockets...they will take notice we are here and start making music for US again.
HAHAHAHAHA nevermind...

i just watched a tape of a concert from '95... the guys were rocking out and looked like they were having fun. Anyone else notice their live shows are kinda stale anymore? Like its their JOB and means nothting else?

Thanks for the review Dan. Having heard the album myself (once) I agree it has a general sound of poppy songs with a love theme, but I like the way they bring it out. No cheesy ballads or acoustics but good guitars, nice hooks, many more low vocals from Ed and not too much falsetto's. And to me it sounded much more cohesive than BOP but that's hard to judge from one listen.

"Here To Stay" was a working title for "All I Need". I think someone made up "Tibetan Thunderstorm".
Didn't Ed in a recent interview describe Night of Nights as something different, perhaps experimental, in comparison to the rest of the record? If so, is he blowing smoke or what?

don´t know, but know said this about All I need

"The last song Live recorded – “All I Need” – stands out sonically from the rest of the album. “It’s a weird song,” Kowalczyk says. “We saved it until the end because we weren’t sure how to approach it. Because it wasn’t a major priority, we felt like we could take chances with the song. It wound up being one of my favorite songs on the album."
So Ed thinks pop is weird? Well finally he gets the point lol.gif

Thanks for the review, Danneh.

Totally what I expected. sad.gif

I mean, good luck to Live with the direction they're going, but... I won't be following too close behind unfortunately.

I've said it before, The River is a nice little song. But it ain't Live. And it seems like that's what the rest of the album is too.

And yes, bands change, blahblahblah, but... no.
