I saw Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers for the second time last week (the first time was over the summer when they opened for Toad the Wet Sprocket), and it was just really great. His concerts are so fun to be at, and the entire band is so entertaining and talented. I really like these guys. I now have 3 of their albums and their DVD, and I'll probably be seeing them again Thanksgiving weekend in Westchester. They're quite a fun band to be a fan of.

My question is, are there any other fans here?

I encourage you guys to go to one of their concerts (they're in the middle of a tour), even if you don't know any of their music (as I did when they opened for Toad). But if you wanna check them out, they're basically alternative/soft rock with a country twang. Here's their myspace:

I love him! I saw him open for The Clarks a few years ago and I just thought he had such a great sound! Puts on a really fun show too. I have one of his cds so far and I love it but I've never gotten around to buying any of the others. But since you have reminded me of him I think I will have to get another one or two of his cds.

Yeah, definitely! Which CD do you have?

You should really try to make it to another one of his shows, too. It's even better when he headlines anyway. It's always a pleasure to watch him and his band do their thing live. Definitely one of the most (if not the most) entertaining bands I've been able to see in concert. They're way more than their music when it comes to stage presence and performance.

I have the Lucky 11 cd. That's from way back in 2002 I think. Great cd! I belong to his mailing list and have always wanted to get to one of his headlining shows but he never seems to play in my area. Hopefully someday soon he will! I agree with you on their live show. They are one of the few opening bands that I have seen that stole the show. I had never even heard of the band before that night and they impressed me so much that I've been a fan ever since. If I had the money that night I would probably have bought all of their cds!

One other thing, if you like alternative with a little country twang you might want to check out Ryan Adams. He is my most recent obsession. His music is a lot less happy than Stephen Kellogg's but it has elements of alternative and country in it. What I like best about him is the fact that he sings and writes straight from his soul and his live shows are unreal.

Oh cool, I'll be sure to check him out. Does he happen to be on tour right now?

Kellogg's band was certainly the best opening band I've ever seen. As you said, he steals the show when he opens, and you don't need to know his music well to enjoy his shows.

Nope Ryan just finished touring. I'm not sure when he'll be hitting the road again. He's amazing though you get a totally different setlist every single night! If you check out his stuff start with "Cold Roses". It's a double cd and the first time I heard it I died. Ok, I didn't really die but you know. lol.gif He's not for everyone but his music hit me like a ton of bricks, stopped me dead in my tracks. That doesn't usually happen to me with most music anymore.
