For the most part I consider Live a 90's band. That is when they made the scene.

That being said (aside from Live no.gif since there would be obvious bias here at this site) who is the greatest band to come out of the 90's???

In order to be considered a band must:

1. Have exhisted in the 90's and hit the mainstream then
2. Be an actual band (not a rap group or a solo artist)

So, what do you think? shrug.gif

Pearl Jam

Although there are some haters of this band angry.gif , I think if you look at the songs they have put out during their career and the durability that they have they are the best band to come out of this era. If I were going to buy a greatest hits album music.gif from a 90's band, I think theirs would be the best.

Er.... Jeff Buckley.

Yes, I ignored your rules. But theres not really any other 90's bands aside from Live that hit the mainstream, that I like. Apart from RHCP, and the only album I really love of theirs is the one that bombed commercially.

Other than Live, because I really did think they were the best band of the 90's, I really loved Soundgarden.

I also agree about Pearl Jam.

I'd say Pearl Jam. I still get chills when I listen to Ten.

Nirvana's influence also cannot be denied. Of course, they influenced thousands of kids who had no business playing the guitar to start bands, and some of the quality of local acts really suffered.

I do agree that Nirvana had a huge influence, but I don't think that their music will stand the test of time. I think most of their influence came directly because of the suicide publicity.

Ditto - got to be Jeff Buckley for me too. Though Alice In Chains had their moments, their music sounds nowhere near as good now as Jeff's still does.
