There are many songs that I love, but there's just one favorite song I have. The song is not very well known to the big audience and pretty underrated by allot of Live- fans. I'm talking about the song Ghost, which is on the Secret Samadhi album.

Now, I would love to know more about this song, because there's so little to find about the song. Anyone have ány info about this song? Is there maybe even a different version of the song available? Or does anyone know if Live ever played this song in concert perhaps? All info is very welcome!

And, also pretty important, I would really love to know what you guys and girls think of the song! smile.gif

some interesting facts about ghost:
1- it was played at most concerts during the secret samadhi tour in 1997

2- it was written acoustically by ed, but there are no known studio recordings of the song besides what you find on the album

3-you can go to bootlegheaven.com and get some concert versions of it

4-you can go to musicvideozone.com and check out the video for ghost - which was originally planned to coincide with a release as a single, but was scratched when the band and/or their
management decided on a different direction

5-the first info about ghost anyone ever heard of was in the january '96 edition of rolling stone boasting the band on their cover as the reader's choice artist of the year. in the issue's featured article, ed said something along the lines of having written a song called ghost and "if you aren't a woman already, you will be one when you hear it" (something like that)

6-it's one of the best live songs ever

Ghost is my favorite Live song. I heard it live once back in 97 but never heard it live again after that.

I think we need to petition Live to get them to play Ghost live again. Or Graze.

Lol I know. But if enough people signed it (like maybe a thousand or more), it might be more powerful than an occasional request from a fan backstage.

one would hope.

but then again, there was a huge petition signing for live to give us some b-sides... thus far to no avail no.gif

if we're going to petition, we might as well throw some other cool requests into the mix... like 'we walk in the dream' and 'she' thumbsup.gif bounce.gif

I have to agree with you 100 percent. Ghost is in my top 3 choices for Live. I like it because it's a very mysterious, dark yet somewhat optimistic, sexy, gut wrenching song. The problem with songs like Ghost and others on SS was that the general audienceof Live(meaning not hardcore fans) kept doing the old comparison of SS to TC. You have to view Ghost and the rest of SS for what it is, a separate work of art by the band, a different time period. Music was changing drastically at the time of SS's debut, especially rock music. Really rock music was almost dead by the time of SS. Hip hop had taken over. This is all generally speaking of course. If you look on the internet, I'm sure you can find Ghost being performed live. I have a copy of one performance. I have to be honest, I prefer the studio version. Ed's voice was changing at the time and it was real deep and raspy during a lot of songs like Ghost. Still worth a listen thought. I'd love to hear Live perform now in 2006 with Ed's voice so matured

Well, it's pretty hard to describe for it's more like a feeling. The song is very, very powerful and contains allot of energy. It has a great build-up too. It starts slowly and pretty emotional, but the chorus is just amazing. When Ed sings (which starts to sound like screaming later in the song) the line "Where did I go wrong?!!" I get goosebumps all over my body. It's very beautiful, very powerful and very emotional, all at the same time! IPB Image

First of all, thanks for the very interesting facts about the song, I never knew about those things. Also thanks for the BootlegHeaven link, I never heard a live version of Ghost before and it sounds amazing, I can tell ya! IPB Image

The only problem is, the music video (on Musicvideozone.com) doesn't seem to work. I get the Quicktime logo (I do have quicktime and it does works, for I tried it with other music video's on that site) but it won't start. Anyone else has this problem or is it just me? And can someone help me with it, because I would now just love to see the Ghost video! IPB Image

sorry to hear about your problem. you might want to google free music video sites... you never know what you might find. i did some searching myself, but couldn't find anything. if i ever do, i'll let you know.

that said, it could be awhile, so if i were you, i'd try musicvideozone on a friend's computer and see if their hardware agreed better with the site.
