Amazing shows.
Particularly 1 and 2.
Ed was struggling a little with his voice for number 3, which meant a lot more audience participation.

I'm terrible at remembering setlists, but what I can tell you about show 3 is that White, Discussion was played really quite early in the set to pump everyone up. Mystery was not played. Rattlesnake opened.

Also, with shows 2 and 3, they ended on Dance With You, but they all stopped playing their instruments and all walked up to the front of stage with everybody singing "We all wanna dance with you", and clapping, and they sang with us and clapped along aswell (without microphones). At the first one they kind of seemed in awe of the whole thing, at the second one it felt a lot more planned, and it wasn't as long as the second show.

Dan, I will send through a proper review for each show as well as some photos for each show when I get a chance.

PS I had an AWESOME weekend, thanks for asking. wink.gif
WOO!

Just curious, but with 3 consecutive shows at the same place, did Live inject anything new into their setlists? (i.e. anything they hadn't played previously on the tour?)

Thanks. Kind of disappointing that they didn't at least pull out a new or rare song for the loyal fans who attended all 3 shows. Really disappointing, actually. sad.gif

I think the setlist were varied enough for all 3 shows. Also, how can you be disappointed if you weren't even there? The band is readying for a long hiatus and Ed has been struggling with a sore throat since mid-summer , you really can't expect any new songs being added on the final leg of the tour. The band is just trying to get through in one piece.

I don't think this has been mentioned before, but a ramp has been added to Live's set. There are a set of stairs behind Ed and it runs from Chad Gracey all the way to the right of the stage.

Ed climbs the ramp to sing "Bad" during Iris and Ed and Chad do their stomp up there during Lakini's Juice.

Here's a pic where you can kind of see it...

Here's a link to a thread on the SOY boards where a fan has posted a bunch (like over 100) pics from the first Melbourne show.

And from the second show...

That's exactly it. I was hoping that with three shows in a row in Melbourne, the band would be pumped, excited, and extremely grateful to the fans who have been loyal enough to ALLOW for there to be three shows (in many other places they can barely sell enough tickets for one show); so pumped, excited, and grateful, in fact, that they would do something special to acknowledge it, rather than just playing the same songs that other people who saw them on the current tour already saw/heard. Your statement about them "just trying to get through in one piece," however, reflects a band who is simply going through the motions, rather than going out of its way to put on a special show.

Anyhow, I didn't start the discussion to be critical, I was just sort of hopeful for some new songs to be played so that my interest in the band could be invigorated again. It's been waning in the past few months.

Various reasons. First, a few new songs being dropped into the setlist would provide for something to look forward to whenever the band comes back to Southern California. More importantly, though, it would have motivated me to go out in search of bootlegs of the show, to join in this discussion board more, and very simply to be more excited about Live as a whole. I don't think a fan needs to be at a show to get excited about what happened at the show.

The band has mixed up the setlist quite a bit compared to their past tours. If I told you in 2003 that Live would be playing Iris, Rattlesnake, Simple Creed, and Mirror Song in concert, you wouldn't believe it. They are also mixing the songs up in their sets more often, so you won't know the order. That is very cool.

Is LIVE perfect? NO! But what band is? But they have been trying to mix up the setlists more than they have. That coupled with the band being worn down and Ed with his voice, means you shouldn't expect any new additions to the setlist this year. Bands have canceled shows for less, but LIVE is powering through. I think they should be commended for giving their all through a tough situation.

Plus.. HELLO VOODOO LADY!!
I cried countless times at the first show.
And rang my dad during all the more obscure songs, just in case Adelaide gets gipped.

Anyways, thanks for the setlists, Dan. smile.gif

The sets did get changed up a bit. But, even if they did play the same set at each show, I still would have had a ball. Live put on some fucking great shows, absolutely incredible! So the fact that they changed it up and surprised the shit out of me when they played a different couple of songs at the second show, was enough to keep me going.

Speaking of photos though. I'm still going to upload mine tonight/tomorrow. I got some gooooood ones. ...and about 100 or so. I'll have to cull them and then upload.

For now though, the ramp that Dan was talking about, during Lakini's (it's not that greater photo, but still, it's there):-

Here are some pics from the Wollongong concert last night (17th oct) the quality is not great as the zoom on my digital camera is not the best

Was a great show except for the morons trying to get us to sit, and does anyone know whats up with Ed as he was sniffing something between songs.

Thanks for the pics. Were there any surprises in the setlist? Was the venue sold out or were there still tickets available for the show?

Check out www.ebay.com.au - there is an auction for 2 tickets at the moment.

You can also try to buy tickets on the day of the show from the ticket office at Challenge Stadium. Sometimes they release a small number of tickets. Give them a call...
