QUOTE(Heather @ Oct 3 2006, 1:20 pm) *

We went to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Nags Head and Rodanthe to be exact. One of the most beautiful spots on Earth in my opinion.

Cool. I just stayed in Rodanthe for the first time this summer after staying like 8 times in Duck. If forgot what street we were on but it was the first one on the right as you enter the town after driving through that desolate stretch. I liked it for the most part although Duck had a little more going on. We had a pool, hot tub, game room and pool table so it was all good.

i stayed in duck 2 years ago. the area was nice, but i prefer nags head because it is closer to a lot of things and is much more convenient. i was in duck a few times during my trip this year and i also drove to corolla and climbed the Currituck Lighthouse. 214 steps and i thought i was going to collapse when i got to the top! but it was all worth it.

there was a huge house a mile down the road from us this year that has 16 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, 2 full kitchens, a movie theater and a sports bar with 4 tv's, a pool table and fooseball table. only $17,750 for the week if you go in july! i would love to rent a house like that but i don't know that many people i can tolerate for a whole week.

Haha! Why do you think Tim and I decided to go a week by ourselves next year?! People tend to get on our nerves after a week although I would LOVE to stay in a house like that or close to it, just once. We did have a pool for the first time this year but the water was so cold we barely used it. I'm debating on whether or not I want a pool next year.

I like Rodanthe the best because the houses are so close to the ocean and it's so much less crowded down there then in Nags Head or Duck. I've been staying there for eight years now and it's almost like it's my second home. I just feel like I belong there. Here I go getting all depressed again! cry.gif

Next year you need to climb the Hatteras Light Chooky! You think the Currituck one was hard! I nearly died! No, I mean it! laugh.gif

You guys are really making me want to take off right now!! And, Heather, it would be great for my soul. I wanna go somewhere alone and relax though. What's the best place for that? And, something somewhat cheap. And, I do really like the beach. lol.gif

Well if you're all the way in IL, I guess you're a bit too far from NC. But really I can't think of a more relaxing place then the beach. I tell you sitting on the beach watching the sunset while drinking and ice cold corona is the ultimate in relaxation. If I were any more relaxed last week I think I would have been in a coma. So yeah find a beach. If not a beach, how about the mountains? With all of the Fall foilage it would be a great time of year to take a roadtrip into the mountains and just be alone.

The Outer Banks has plenty of little hotels on the beach that are nice and really cheap. We actually stayed in one right on the beach that had a little kitchen, two bedrooms, a balcony,a pool and a hot tub for $100. Of course that was the off season rate but in the off season there it is still 80 degrees pretty much every day.
