As you know tomorrow marks the 5 year anniversary of the darkest day in history. Please remember to pause for the ones who lost there lives that day and keep our military in your prayers!!! NEVER FORGET 9-11-01...

I stare in total disbelief,
heart torn with instant grief.
Plumes of black smoke fill the air,
marking a building no longer there.
I close my eyes, I want to pray,
but my mind doesn't know what to say.
Much like Pearl harbor, so many years ago,
so many gone with one fatal blow.
There are no words to explain,
there are no words to ease the pain.
To those who gave their lives,
Mothers, Fathers, Husbands and Wives,
to all who's lives today did cease,
may your soul find instant peace.
We will honor you and the life you gave,
as a Patriot of "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave."

Awesome poem! Did you write it? If you did thumbsup.gif Brilliant!

Trust me I'll never forget being that my job is half a block away and I have to walk pass the site to and from my train.

I must admit though I feel slightly scared nervous.gif going to work riding the subway tomorrow as it is 9/11. Ah well, gotta do what I gotta do.
So, let the prayers begin!!!! innocent.gif

They really are Great heroes!!!!!!
2 firemen just died in a 99 cents store fire my Bronx neighbourhood. So sad. One was a rookie who just started less than 3 months ago.The floor collapsed and they fell into the basement. So, so sad. They really are heroes. Aint no way I'm running into no burning building. Yet, they do this. Although I'm pissed though cause I found out that the starting salary for firefighters in NYC is $26K. What a friggin shame!!!!! Surely we can do better than this shrug.gif

I'm sorry, I have a problem with this quote. I will amend it to be "the darkest day in American history"
I'm sure other countries/nations would better appreciate this quote and so would I.

First of all, I want to say what you wrote is beautiful.

But, do any of you out there think that it's just ...well, wrong, to be memorializing and dramatizing this situtaion so soon after it happened? eh.gif I mean, if we were recognizing something that happened in the Vietnam war, I could see it. WWII, absolutely. But something that happened just 5 years ago? I think it's just a testament to what media whores not only the US are, but the entire world. no.gif

I wish everybody who lost beloved people during the attacks on 9-11 or lost beloved people during other attacks or because of war or other violence a lot of strength.
My heart goes out to you.

GvB.

I have mixed feeling on it to be honest. This is not a thing that could or should be forgotten. It will be forgotten soon enough - I'm shocked by how many kids today know nothing about the two world wars... 'Lest we forget' and we have or are at least are letting the next generation forget when the world is as dangerous a place as it's ever been - more so. However, the sensationalizing of it in the media is a bit distasteful. For instance I think movies about 9/11 are definitely way too soon - glorifying 9/11 and making money off the back of the human misery caused is in bad taste.

My thoughts are most definitely with the survivors and the families who lost loved ones.
