I've listened to it on iTunes, but can't really judge from the short clips. Is it worth getting?

Just listened to the album, and watched the bonus DVD (For some reasons not all copies include the dvd?) - It's all good - especially if you are a Audioslave or Chris Cornell fan. I'd definitely recommend you get it!

I haven't picked it up yet but I hope to this weekend. I guess I'm just not too excited about it based on the first single. "Original Fire" is just not sounding too original to me. It's boring and seems to follow some sort of Audioslave formula. Like insert Tom Morello solo here. Plus the lyrics are pretty dull and repetitive.

I did hear the Tom described the new cd as a cross between Led Zep and Earth Wind and Fire so that does peak my interest.

Oh no that is what I was afraid of. It doesn't seem like they have much creativity left. I guess I will have to have a listen for myself before I judge though.

I have listened to the whole cd several times now and I am not impressed at all either. It is their worst effort to date in my opinion. There are a few songs that are good, but nothing that stands out at all.

Well if Original Fire is the best than I guess I will not be buying this one. I haven't heard anyone give it a good review yet. Too bad because I really loved the first two cds and they are an amazing live band.

Ugh, couldnt stand the second cd, thought it was absolute garbage, and honestly felt like it was embarrassing to listen to. I used to enjoy the first one, haven't listened to it in a couple of years though. The last remaining light was an incredible song.

Glad i didnt get into them!
When i heard they were forming a band i got exited but didnt really think much of them.

Pitty they couldnt keep the momentum going. Sounds like their new album is going to sound like Peeping Tom. disappointing album as well

You like Patton? Lovage was his best work in the triphoppy sorta genre... even thats not brilliant though... Its been a while since one of his new cds has impressed me as much as his old stuff did.

I got it and listened to it. Here are my random thoughts.

It reminds me of the direction that Dave Matthews Band took with their last album Stand Up, in relation to their previous albums. There are definitely a number of long repetitions of the chorus in a bunch of the songs, almost like on a loop, like DMB did on Stand Up. But I think that is the genre that they were aiming for with the sound of the music because, like DMB on Stand Up, Audioslave describes this album as having a bit of a 'funk" sound and blues origins. I can definitely here a new sound coming from Audioslave on this album. It's definitely not more of the same from them. The drums and bass lines are definitely more of a rythm and funk sound and the lyrics are bit more edgy, bluesy and even have a political agenda in many places. The song that I dislike the most on the new album sonically, Wide Awake, has the most amazing lyrics about Hurricane Katrina and points an incriminating finger directly at Bush for being guilty of being asleep at the switch when he should have been wide awake and I think he even refers to what happened in NO as murder. The guitar solos are amazing as usual. I wouldn't call it a cookie cutter product of the previous albums and I wouldn't say that they ran out of creativity. This album is definitely different that the previous two and goes in a different direction. If you judge this album as being good or bad depending upon how close it sounds like the most thrilling moments on the first 2 albums, then you might come away saying that you don't like it. But if you listen to it on its own merits, and listen to it a few times and let it sink in, I think it is quite good.

Let's be honest here. Most new releases pushed by the totally confused and misguided record companies are coming from two dimensional imposters like K-Fed, Taylor Hicks, Paris Hilton, Ashley and Jessica Simpson and those like them. If you try to really get into the art that this group of artists are trying to make on an album like Revelations, you ought to be able to really appreciate the work. I think this album is a great, ecclectic sounding album that is the reflection of some really talented, creative guys putting forth some serious effort. I think that Audioslave and Revelations is the closest thing to real old school rock and roll that the music industry has done in 2006.
