I will agree with your statement about the two defining forces. Jesus of course to the greatest extent. Way, way, way, ahead!!!!!!!
I do respect the American G. I. 100% and understand and appreciate the sacrifices of lives and limbs etc. they have made for America & other countries ( not mine, thank God, there was never a need ) However, the present leaders' actions like not providing enough armour, man power, cuttting back on veteran benefits etc. really baffles me.

heh, heh, guess you got me there...the 2 you list as faves are actually 2 of my favorites, too. i do like a lot of ed's lyrics, but a lot i don't care for, yet i still like the songs. go figure.

American G.I's don't die for me.

quite right, but a shitload of U.S. Marines and Sailors lost their lives protecting your country and mine in WWII. Admittedly, their first duty was to the U.S. But I think the statement applies to Australian soldiers as well as any that give their life in defense of their country.

perhaps your forgeting about little things like when the USA started bombing the English Navy and the English had to blow a whole bunch of your planes out of the sky before you relised your mistake.

see, you are getting political. my only point is that soldiers in free countries everywhere have given their lives to protect our way of life. believe what you will, but many U.S. Marines paid the ultimate sacrifice then and prevented an invasion of Australia by Japan. Perhaps you would have defeated their invasion, but you would have never stopped them from landing on your soil without U.S. Naval power.

But of course you are right, the U.S. had little or nothing to do with victory in WWII. the Allies certainly did not need our help
