You know.. I've kept my mouth shut about the comments you've made for awhile.

I just want to point out to you, that in my interpretation, what Ed writes in his lyrics talks of people just like you.

I read your thread about wondering what religious affiliation Ed was. The fact of the matter is, he's not affiliated with anything. He's more affiliated with everything. He's a big follower of Ken Wilber, who talks of integralism. Google integralism, and tell me what you think.

Read the lyrics to just about all of TC or TDTH. He talks about finding his spirituality, but at the same time talks of how these religious leaders will blindly lead their congregations off a cliff. And these people follow, without question. He's not against any religion. Quite the opposite. As far as what I gather, he wants people to open their eyes and find their own spirituality instead of following a book.

And your post saying youre a fan of Live and not Ed makes no sense. Seeing as how Ed wrote the lyrics to the songs you love so much.

If you're so against his beliefs and what he says in his songs, why do you even bother to listen or to post here? I just don't understand.

Maybe I'm wrong for posting this, but I'm dealing with alot in finding my own spirituality. I don't mean to offend you, but just know you've offended me.

yeah not trying to be mean or nething gorgitz but i dont understand how u can like a band but not like one of the people that makes the band who they are and writes the songs and puts the meaning into them...just my opinion

Hello!

My thoughts:

I believe in God too and I understand very well that people want to keep certain feelings for God like shivers down the spine and tears in the eyes.
But how do you manage to do that if you see and hear people who have received so much talent from God and use that in such an amazing way?!
God doesn't give people talent to forbid them to use it and to forbid other people to enjoy it and learn from it, I think.

And further, okay it's tricky what I'm going to say now.
Sorry if I get offensive to people: but you know what I always keep in mind?
That God and Jesus did not write the Bible by themselves (I would have liked it if they did).
A few apostels wrote it.
And they were just as human as we are, so I guess that their understanding of what God wants from us is just as small as ours.

I believe in God but I don't know if I live my life in a way God likes.
I'm just guessing and making choices in my life for as far as possible and hope that I make the right choices.
All I think is that we should be careful with the world and each other because I believe God has made it up for us (I don't think that he created the world in 7 days, but I can't believe that God hasn't anything to do with our existence).

And there are things like that which I recognize in Ed's lyrics.
Although I have to admit that Ed's thoughts on them are much more intelligent than mine and that he knows so much more on spirituality than I do.
He has such a wide view on things!
And Ed opened my eyes for the fact that people use and abuse God for things they want for themselves or just for people with the same background as they have (something that really pisses me off, but you all know that here).
This was a shock, but I have learned from it.

All I want to say to Gotigrz: give Ed a chance, he doesn't want you to let go your believe in God, he just wants to show you that you can believe in a critical way, without swallowing everything other people say.
I know: Ed is only human, but so are we and so are all the priests and bishops and the pope and all other religious people.

I hope I haven't hurt anyone, otherwise you may get angry with me.

Okay, I don't understand it too, how people can save the shivers down their spine and the tears in their eyes for God.
Tears in my eyes and shivers down my spine are things which just happen to me and are out of my control.

But if somebody manages to save those feelings for God, then that person gets MY respect.

That was my first reaction too when I read Brett's reply.
But I'm used to it that a lot of people don't understand believing in God. sad.gif

I agree with that one.

But I'm affraid I'm used to jokes on God.

But maybe we can consider people who can not take jokes about God.

But at the other hand: no laughing on religion and spirituality has it's dangerous side.
I'm always afraid of getting extreme.

I'm not sure about laughing or not laughing about God.
