There is something I do really want to know: am I about the only one here who has the opinion that the "The distance to here" and all the newer albums are better than "Secret Samadhi" and the older albums?

I think sometimes that Secret Samadhi is sometimes even too "dark" to me.
And especially "The distance to here", "V" and "Songs from black mountain" have such inspiring songs!

Sometimes I have to make up my mind about a song first before I really love it (for example, "Simple creed"), but it are most often the spirtual an idealistic things in the song that I love most.
Am I the only one who feels this way?

GvB.

i've come to realize that i like LIVE's song based on sound. period. lyrically, ed showed his deepness in TC and SS, but every album after, aside from a few songs, the lyrical message has been the exact same in every song...................................................................... or so it seems.

but, regardless of lyric.... i choose the songs i like through the sound... melody.... beat.... etc...

I like SONGS.... and sometimes even more songs on an album.... the one with the most of my fav songs, happen to be SS, followed by TC and TDTH. I happen to like the dark and sometimes too dark songs on it.

so as you see, there are 2 albums before tdth in my favs.... so yeah, I like the older albums better, which doesnt mean I dont like anything on V, BoP or SfBM. I happen to like SfBm a lot. so it;s equal, 2 before tdth and 2 after... and the other ones I like a lot. No matter when they came out.

The "darkness" of SS is what makes it so exciting. The no sense lyrics just add to the mystery of the album and makes it even more compelling to listen to music.gif

I don't really agree with u, I think that their earlier albums (like TC, SS) had more depth, and were way better musically and lyricly, not to say that i don't like their newer stuff, but it's way more simple! i'd love them to make another 'darker' album, but then again, it's all a matter of taste! shrug.gif

I like the newer stuff better because it's more positive and with more hope and idealism I think.
But okay, its a matter of taste.

quoted for total agreement. and for the fact that pat's bass line and gracey's rhythms are much more prominent on these tracks than some others that followed...

oh and lest we forget... it is all IMHO

it is only you! SS is by far their greatest album as it is the personification of their emotionsafter their world wide success from TC. As spiritual people it is a necessity to have darkness in our lives, so that we may over come it and create albums like TDTH.

Okay, but for me counts that I have had already enough darkness to know how darkness feels.
And if I get too much darkness then I get a very terrible person to everybody and I don't want that anymore.
"The distance to here" and all albums after it helped me through for as much as possible, you see?
I just need the light nowadays.

y'know? SS is a dark album, but i don't considder it to be a 'depressing' album, dark doesn't necessarily mean 'depressing'! But i do know where you're coming from though..
